1.0 out of 5 stars Simply awful., January 11, 2003
This review is from: Jack of Hearts (DVD)
It really bothers me when I see respected veteran actors like M. Emmet Walsh and Ben Gazarra in junk like this. Don't they have any pride left? Do they really need a paycheck that badly?

"Jack Of Hearts" is yet another terrible film written and directed by Serge Rodnunsky. A cop with a turbulent past is hired by the Las Vegas police department because of a shortage of good, qualified officers. The reason given for the shortage is that supposedly the population of Las Vegas tripled in only two years. Amazing!

Anyways, him and his partner (who doesn't like him...of course!) are soon on a very boring homicide case. Some guy is killed because of a disagreement about how their casino's books should be handled...or some similar kind of nonsense. It was hard for me to stay focused because most of the acting was bland and the plot was too dull. As is often the rule in this type of film, there are lots of silly conveniences and a couple of outrageous explosions, which had me chuckling.

Other annoyances include extremely sloppy editing and some embarrassingly amateurish voice dubbing. Even if you love Las Vegas films, stay far away from this one!
