I've heard Muhammad Ali refer to Jack Johnson before and I didn't really know a lot about him other than what I've read in history of boxing types of books - and wanted to learn more - thought I'd check him out.

3.0 out of 5 stars not much to read here
I read this book in about an hour, every other page has a picture on it, however, the book is interesting, i just thought there could have been more to it. The pictures in it were great though as i had never seen a lot of them. I've heard Muhammad Ali refer to Jack Johnson before and I didn't really know a lot about him other than what I've read in history of boxing types of books - and wanted to learn more - thought I'd check him out.

This book seems to be geared towards a younger reader - a pre teen or teen just getting interested in boxing and/or the history of boxing.

It's a fantastic starting point for someone interested in Jack Johnson - it's funny - even though this is in a way a "kids" book I was absolutely and completely mesmerized by the last few chapters. I was outraged at the racism of the time and nothing was going to break my concentration reading about the Fight of the Century!

This is a short book, has lots of great and rare pictures and has left me wanting to learn even more about this great hero and legend - Jack Johnson.
