Health Master 100 great buy for the money compared to others,
By Kimberly D (Atlanta, Ga) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Health Master 100 Blender
This will have to be short and sweet due to limited time but I had to offer my opinion.
I have been looking for a whole food/ raw food blender for about a month. I have already returned 3 blenders to other stores, as eating whole foods and raw foods require more power then your typical walmart/ kmart blender can offer. The Bullet was a joke. The cuisinart, such a disappointment. First, I must say that I am a bargain shopper. Although I do love high end quality, I very rarely pay top dollar for anything. If I can buy a top quality item used, I will. A Vitamix blender would have been the ideal for me, but I simply wasnt willing to lay down 400-500 dollars. Nor was I about to even go used on it, which would have run me about 250.00. Call me cheap, but I knew there had to be something out there that at least came close to it. I happened upon the Healhmaster 100 online. I compared the wattage, horse power, and style (with tamper) to its rival, the Vitamix. Mind you of course, if I was a wealthy person and money was no object, I would be writing a review of a vitamix right now. But, since I already spent so much money on a grain mill, Bosch mixer and other neccessities I was forced to bargain shop. I am NOT sorry. This machine is awesome and does not struggle as the others did. I can make frozen fruit ice cream with no problem and no stuggles. Within a minute or two, I was enjoying creamy fresh fruit ice cream. This is a big deal for me, as I have been trying to make this particular recipe for about a month with no success. The other blenders struggled and could not achieve the creamy texture I wanted. I had to continually turn them off, use a wooden spoon to push the mixture down and pulse again for only a second, then turn it off again. This went on and on and took forever. For the money, the HM 100 is a powerful machine that can handle very challanging raw food recipes. I have seen the vitamix being used at a raw food class, and the HM100 compares in style and power. I hope this review helps other indecisive consumers who are looking for a less expensive option to something like the Vitamix. If you looking for a high end blender with a lower end price tag, you might want to consider trying this out. UPDATE: I have been using this machine for 1 month on mostly raw style recipes, green smoothies, hummus and nut butters and so on. I am so happy with it. It has completely and soundly completed any task I have stuffed it with!! ANOTHER UPDATE: Still kicking butt!! I have had no problems with leakage, as others say they have. Hope I never do. I have used this machine almost daily for 4-5 months, making many raw recipes and green smoothies. IT STILL ROCKS!!

Example of one faulty piece ruining an entire machine,
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Health Master 100 Blender
When I first got this blender, I thought it was amazing. It's capacity is huge. I could blend a full pitcher and I would have enough smoothie to get me through the day. It is enormously powerful. I'm convinced I could probably blend a sinder block into baby powder if I wanted.
HOWEVER, the bearings at the bottom of the blender are completely inadequate. It never got wet from below. I was always careful about that. It still didn't take long for the bearings to become shot. Liquid started to leak through and it rusted out. Now the whole thing is entirely useless. It lasted all of about 2 months for a total of probably 40 uses. That is totally unacceptable. The bearings just can't keep up with the 150 HP electric engine. If I could buy the pitcher alone, it might just be worth it to buy a new pitcher every few months. That's not an option though. Stay away from this machine until they address the problem with the bearing. Search the internet. You'll find this is a very common problem with it. Now after having the taste of the good life, I'll never be able to go back to a run-of-the-muck standard blender. It looks like I'll have to break the bank and grab a VitaMix or something similar. I can't help but think that this junk product has probably helped to improve the sales of high end blenders.

Not the best, but very good.,

Being new to raw food and anxious to make Green Smoothies a la Victoria Boutenko, I knew I needed something in the line of Blendtec or Vitamix, but the prices are prohibitive. The owner of a local raw food cafe gave me a recommendation for the HM100. It does the job on the green smoothies, where it must completely blend very thick greens like kale, collards, etc. as well as grinding up flax seed and the various fruits for a nice blend. I only gave it four stars because it takes much longer than the "usual" 10 seconds to complete the process (45-60 seconds), and now and then it will leave small chunks of fruit or greens, but that doesn't bother me. I know it's breaking the cell walls of the plants, which is the most important thing. I'm sure it would not chop wooden blocks, as the Vitamix supposedly does, but I'm very pleased with it and how it has helped me on the road to much better health.

I REALLY wanted to like this blender -- it's from Jack LaLanne! the godfather of fitness! -- but alas, after only 90+ days of almost daily use making simple green smoothies, the carafe has started to leak big time. Sure, the motor has a 100 year warranty but all other parts are only 60 days AAAAARRGH!... not good.
It did a great job blending kale, carrots, apples, oranges, semi-frozen fruits, etc. while it lasted. For occasional use the Healthmaster 100 might work fine for several months but don't expect it to perform in the same league as a Vita-Mix or Blendtec.

Not up to par, and warentee not upheld,
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Health Master 100 Blender
First I want to say that I purchased this item through a link that took me directly to the JackLaLanne sight to purchase this product - not Amazon -- I will never do that again, at least with Amazon there is more accountability for sellers to back their word.
I purchased this item a little over a year ago, and paid the extra $15 for a 3 yr warrente that guarenteed replacement if anything wrong. It was advertized as guarenteed not to rust as all metal parts were 100% stainless steel. It came with absolutly no paperwork!! I was very glad that I had saved the email confirmation receipt as later I needed it. Everything was fine for about the first 6-8 months. The pitcher is plastic, not glass as I would have expected for the price. The markings on the lid wore off and after about a year both the bottom of the pitcher and where it connected to the motor base, began to show signs of rust. It got increasingly worse. After several attempts I was able to get find a phone number for Customer Service. When I spoke to customer service, they assured me a "free" replacement would be shipped out within 48 hours of their receipt of the defective one. They only take returns shipped to a PO Box, which means you can't use UPS or FedEx - you have to use the Post Office which is very expensive to ship something that heavy. Depending on if I wanted to send it Parcel Post or Priority mail the cost was between $24 and $30, plus I had to include another $19.99 for them to ship the "free" replacement to me.check Between the extra $15 I paid for the warrentee, $27 to ship the bad one to them and the $19.99 for them to ship me a "free" replacement -- I had invested over $60 for what should have been a free replacement since it was not as advertized that all metal parts 100% stainless steel". Taking this as a lesson learned, I bit the bullet and shipped it back, rationalizing that It would cost me about $60 to replace it with a good blender. Low and behold -- 3 weeks go buy and I have no replacemnt, no notice of shipment or delay of shipment. Their phone lines seems to not work properly as rather than place me on hold as the prompts mentioned, it disconnect me -- this went on for about a week. Finally I did get through -- they were not sending me a replcement: They instead refunded my closed credit card - and only for the amount of the item -- not all the shipping, nor the cost of the warrentee.

Very Poor Blender,

Who doesn't love Jack LaLanne? Unfortunately, as much as I wanted this one-third-of-the-price version of the Vita-Mix Blender to be equal in it's value to my kitchen and my health, there is simply no comparison. Here are my problems with the Jack LaLanne blender:
1)Turning knob and associated ball bearing fall off repeatedly. This being on THREE blender bases they have sent me, the second two to replace the first. I finally decided to forget it and just deal with turning the metal projection instead of using the knob which should be located over it since the problem persisted with the new blenders anyway. What a waste of goods and resources! 2)Liquid leaks through the bottom of the blender cup. 3)There is a chemical taste and smell in the bottom of the blender, imparting a funky flavor into many of my recipes. Are they putting some kind of antimicrobial in there??? Yuck! 4)METAL SHAVINGS from the base where the blender bottom fits into the motor socket. 5)Metal shavings combine with the water that has leaked through, creating an ICKY brown liquid all over the top of the motor base and on my counter tops. Although it doesn't make as smooth a puree as a Vita-Mix, it does blend very well - if you don't mind brown, murky water all over your kitchen counters from setting the blender cup down anywhere. I really recommend people bit the bullet and just go for the VitaMix, or just stick with a cheapie that has an ice crushing feature.

Discontinued for a reason,

I was originally impressed with the performance of Jack LaLanne's Health Master. Eight months later, that is no longer the case. The blade and bearing have rusted and it is out of warranty. Rust-flavored smoothies leave just as bitter a taste in the mouth as the money wasted on this product. I wish I would have known this before purchasing. After researching this problem, I found many others had similar experiences. The product is now discontinued and the remaining inventory is being sold at a discount. Do yourself a favor: Don't buy one even if the price seems tempting. What good is an inexpensive but worthless blender?

Buyer Run Like Hell!,
By F Greg McGeary (Mt Pleasant pa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Health Master 100 Blender
At first, the Healthmaster performed beautifully, although I noticed the power cord was as flimsy as a common household extension cord.
After a few months of use, the bearing on the blending jar failed. Metal fragments and rust powder covered the rubber shroud. The drive shaft now is also shaky.. and in a short time will fail also. Keep in mind, that the warranty is 60 days only. It also states that it does "NOT cover normal wear and tear." Sure the motor is warrantied for life. But if the bearings fail, and you cannot repair or return your Healthmaster blender, without spending a lot of money, what good is smilin' Jack and his wife's lifetime motor warranty promise? The Jack LaLanne Healthmaster is made in China...and the warranty is clearly deceptive. Jack LaLanne and his wife's reputation are in the mud in my opinion.

Jack LaLanne's products are a total scam,
This review is from: Jack LaLanne Health Master 100 Blender
I wish I would have thought to check the reviews before I purchased the Health Master 100!!!!
What a piece of junk. Like everyone else has been saying it worked for a few months then the blade began to rust and leak. I called "customer service" what a joke that was. After several minutes of complaining they finally agreed to give me my money back. I sent it back 3 months ago and have still not received a credit. They have my money AND the piece of [...] blender. Stay away from anything with Jack Lalanne's name on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a happy camper!,

I replaced a cheaper toy blender for what I thought was a blender that had such a great brand name. It worked great for the first 6 mos then I noticed it was leaving chunks of already crushed ice from my fridge. Secondly it began to leak and I can't find a replacement for the jar. So I'm stuck with what is supposedly a great motor but a useless jar!
