maybe better than I, Jack, March 10, 2006
I think I enjoyed this book more than I, Jack. The relationship between Rebel and Jack is really entertaining and some of the predicaments they get into in the book were funnier (the dog induced car "accident" was a hoot!) I have read many books about dogs, my most recent favorite being Marley and Me, however the Jack series is truly special because of the author's style in getting inside a dog's brain and writing the story in the "dog voice". All dog lovers want to know what their dogs are thinking. The Jack series of books is a fanciful entry into the dog mind. Enjoy - for the young reader and the young at heart too.

Another winner from Patricia Finney!, October 3, 2008
My 7 year old daughter (excellent reader for her age) insisted I read her book, "I, Jack", and wanting to encourage her love for reading, I agreed. Man, was I happy I did - I have never so thoroughly enjoyed reading a children's book as I did the very funny "I, Jack"! Patricia Finney has a talent with a funny bone, and spins very funny tails about a goofy yellow Lab (as the cats call him, "the big yellow stupid."), which she bases on her own real-life dog's various bad/loveable behaviors. I didn't hesitate to buy the sequel, "Jack, and Police Dog Rebel" which also is very funny and makes my family love Jack even more!
I wrote the author a letter thanking her for sharing her stories and telling her I hoped Jack's adventures would continue, and she replied and thanked me for my kind words and told me the books were as fun and enjoyable to write as they are for me to read! Then she let me know that HarperCollins agreed to publish her THIRD book (which will be titled "Jack and the Ghosts"), paid her for the book, and then recently sent her a cancellation!
I think it will be a shame if this 3rd book in the funny Jack series is not published for us all to enjoy! I wrote a letter to HarperCollins Chilren's Books, Publicity Dept, 1350 Avenue of the Americas, NY, NY 10019, and asked them to please reconsider publishing the book, saying how much my family would like the opportunity to buy and enjoy the 3rd, and hopefully more future books about Jack's wonderful adventures in the future! If you love these books, please help and send a letter as well! Thanks!

Big dog lovers (especially family companion Lab owners) will find it irresistable., August 5, 2007
Jack and Police Dog Rebel is a wonderful story. An adventure told through the eyes of the dog, Jack, a yellow lab. It is wonderful. I love Patricia Finney's book. My kids loved it. My wife loved it. This is the sequel to I, Jack, another wonderful book. If you love silly big dogs, you will love this book.
