excellent stand,

This review is from: Jack-Post Welded Steel Christmas Tree Stand, For Trees Up to 12-Feet, 1.7-Gallon Water Capacity (Kitchen)
We have been using this stand for a few years now, and can report that it's excellent. It is stable, and holds a sufficiently large amount of water. We usually get a 7-8 foot tree, but this year our tree is 9' (possibly a bit over), and this stand is absolutely solid.
Key features: the legs are firmly attached to a well-constructed and robust base; the ring for the screws is also quite sturdy; the screws are thick, and tipped with flat washer-like disks, providing a bigger surface area for holding the tree trunk. Yes, it's a bit more expensive than your usual hardware-store model, but it's worth every penny if you want to use it for many years. Very important: Every year, after removing your tree, thoroughly clean and dry the stand, and thoroughly lubricate the screws (I've generally used WD40). It will make your life much easier the following year!

best stand I've found -- highly recommended,
By CS (Acton, MA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jack-Post Welded Steel Christmas Tree Stand, For Trees Up to 8-Feet, 1.1-Gallon Water Capacity (Kitchen)
This stand is excellent, it's the only one I've found that holds a tree securely and does so year after year.
It might not be obvious, but many stands are designed in a poor way, allowing the housing for the retaining bolts to wear out after some use, making the stand pretty useless. I would particularly watch out for any stands where the bolts go through plastic rather than metal. The other thing to watch for is some kind of cap at the ends of the bolts, to provide a wider surface against the tree. We typically buy 7-8 foot trees (cut fresh from a farm), and have never had any problems with this stand. You do have to make sure you have enough trimmed trunk at the bottom, of course. I also recommend cleaning and oiling when you're putting it away in January (I use ordinary light machine oil); particularly make sure to oil the bolt threads! This will make your life much easier next year, and will also help the stand last longer. Merry Christmas!

Strudy with few drawbacks,
By Anonymous (San Jose, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jack-Post Welded Steel Christmas Tree Stand, For Trees Up to 8-Feet, 1.1-Gallon Water Capacity (Kitchen)
So far this is the only tree stand that has lasted more than two Christmas trees. All previous standa that I have had have begun to rust, have become deformed, or have been damaged by tall, heavy trees. This one is well-built, and the finish has yet to crack or peel. Two drawbacks are that the maximum trunk size that will fit is not that big, and the bowl capacity is not that great. If you typically have fresh cut trees, you may have to shave the trunk to ensure it fits and you will fill the bowl several times a day when the tree is thirsty.
