These shoes were so popular when and where I was in middle school and high school. I love the feel of the thick sole underneath the lightweight top. This shoe was cool then and now I'm bring them back! Plus I love the story behind Jack Purcell - these are the original "Air Jordans" you might say.

These shoes are awesome.... looking. Not so great on the feet. They hurt mine after an hour or two of wear. I bought a Dr. Scholls gel sole to fix the problem though and they are great.

Another huge problem: the rubber Jack Purcell on the back of my right shoe ripped off. not very durable. but the rest of the shoe (made of canvas it looks like is in fine condition).

all that being said, this shoe is still sooo fly. they look especially great with a pair or slim fit dark blue denim jeans.

bottom line: if your looking for one of the best looking sneakers that goes with almost everything, look no further. just be willing to give up comfort.
if your looking for anything else, maybe check out some stan smiths.
these ARE a bit pricey for a somewhat of a poor shoe. if i had to buy again, I'd probably get stan smiths (adidas)

These shoes are very retro and look great with a pair of dark jeans and a blazer for a sort of slightly dressy casual look. However, the arch support inside the shoe is so flat they're a bit uncomfortable to wear for very long. Definitely a shoe for the flat footed.

Got these for my daughter--they looked great and she loved them initially, but she wound up with severe blistering on the back of both heels after wearing them for one day. I'm hoping we can remedy this by her breaking them in, maybe wearing Band-Aids in the meantime. For now, they're sitting in the closet until the blisters go away.

BTW, take note that these are unisex shoes and the sizes are MEN'S sizes.

I like these converse sneakers better than some of the others because they look a little more preppy. I got these in white (mainly because that's the only color they had in my size!) and they're great. They're true to size. I'm a size 9 in women's and they fit perfectly. If you get the white ones however, they are not as white as they look in the picture. The bottom part of the shoe is more like an off-white tone. Not the really crisp white you see in the photo. They're still great, and I looked for these at other places and they were trying to sell them for 65 dollars. So this is a great deal for Jack Purcells.

I ordered this product instead of my intended 'chucks' based on the price and the description: "Converse Jack Purcell Leather Ox". It seemed a good price for that product.

When I received the product, it was WRONG. It was the canvas option.

The seller offered a refund once the product was returned (with free shipping), but their policy states that it may take up to 7 days for a refund. Unfortunately, they didn't offer an exchange option to actually get what was described on this product page. I would have to order it again - with no assurance that it would be right the next time.

This meant that I would have to spend time shipping them back, wait (up to 7 days for a refund), try to order them again in hopes that the order won't be wrong again, then wait to get them shipped back to me again. Too much hassle.

Since I was originally looking for 'canvas' chucks, and the price for these (even though canvas) was still reasonable - I decided to avoid the trouble of getting them to fix this mistake and settle with this product.

I'm more upset that the description is wrong. Buyer beware.

This was my first bad Amazon experience.

I was about to purchase these in Black/White, but every time i add them to my cart i'm seeing the 'Canvas' image, which leads me to believe these are not 'Leather' as i had hoped. It's very unclear and needs to be updated. I won't risk buying them just to receive the wrong product.

After only a few months of very light use, the soles have begun to separate at the heel from the rest of the shoe. It's not bad, but you feel absolutely any moisture at all immediately.

I'm so happy with my black/white jack purcell shoes. I just love the way it looks. and its very comfortable. I used it a lot when i go grocery shopping. I would love to order another color in the near future. :)

I've been wearing Converse All Stars since the early sixties. The Jack Purcell is the same sneaker minus some stripes. I don't understand the gripe about "feet burning"? I have "medium" feet? Normal feet? I don't have flat feet nor do I have high arches. Just regular feet. Converse sneakers are THE most popular sneakers in the world. Don't lace them so tight, wear crew socks and stop jumping out of trees and off roof tops and you'll be fine. They are a casual wear sneaker, not an athletic sneaker. Relax. Be casual.

One point, they are canvas not leather. I knew that before I bought them. Amazon should edit the description.
