I usually just wrap my heavier armature wire with the 1/16, but I will use this for fingers, claws, and other such small details. There's really no substitute for aluminum armature wire.

Now THIS is armature wire! I bend it, and it stays there! I put clay on it, and it sticks! It came in a coil, JUST AS ADVERTISED! I am deliriously happy! Really! I'm so happy I'm hallucinating! Make it stop!

I really like this wire, but I hate paying for it. It's a nearly perfect wire for building a sculpture armature, but the price difference between the aluminum wire and the steel variety is something to consider. I use this wire in conjunction with a thinner steel floral wire for added strength. This particular wire is pretty good quality and can take several bends (in a general area) without breaking.

There is a certain product I deal with professionally and I install this product. For decades the manufacturer supplied some wire like this with each unit to faciliate the installation. I did not know at the time it was called armature wire. Later they stopped supplying the wire and switched to different installation methods which I found to be inferior, so I sought out a source of the "hyperflex wire". I found Ook aluminum wire at the hardware store. Nice packaging, but the wire broke much too easily after just a little twisting. Finally with research I figured out the thing I needed was called sculptor's armature wire. Found the Amazon listings for Jack Richeson, and the 1/16" seemed about right. Received the product and yes, this is the wire I used to get and the same size. Torture tested it, it performs beautifully. It vastly outperforms the Ook product. I doubt there is a better quality wire of this type.

I use this wire for armature puppets in Stop Motion projects. Very good product. However, you must consider which seller you choose to purchase this wire. The first time I ordered, I did from fineartstore. I ordered 10 pcs. and I have to pay about $8 for S&H. 2 months later, I ordered 10 more pcs., but this time from CreateArt (I thought it was the same fineartstore) and with this company (CreateArt), I have to pay $40 (yes, $40) for S&H. I paid more for S&H than for the product itself. I e-mail for a reclamation and explanation, and they made a credit for $10 (anyway, $30 for S&H is still expensive). I e-mail again to thank the credit, but next time I need to restock, I going to order it from fineartstore.

It worked great as an armature for my sculpey sculpts. I've never purchased wire for it before, I wish it were a little less wobbly, but that's no fault of the description or the seller, but rather my lack of knowledge. I would buy again from this seller, but would buy a little thicker next time.

This is great armature wire for polymer dolls. I used it in a 10 inch doll and it was easy to work with. The item shipped quickly and was well packaged.
