5.0 out of 5 stars The Original Score to "The Jackal" by Carter Burwell
This has nothing to do with the "soundtrack" that features various artists, but for those of you who are interested there was a VERY limited special edition of the score released for collectors a few years back. I do not know the production numbers, but needless to say I've only seen one (My own copy) so it is incredibly difficult to find. If you are a fan of the awesome...

2.0 out of 5 stars Oh, There Is That Trailer Song!
What led me to buy this CD is the song "Red Tape" by Agent Provocateur. I was originally looking for the Trailer song to the movie "Underworld", because I thought the song and trailer went really cool together. The next thing I know, "Underworld" does not have it under their soundtrack and I was given the hint that the movie...

What led me to buy this CD is the song "Red Tape" by Agent Provocateur. I was originally looking for the Trailer song to the movie "Underworld", because I thought the song and trailer went really cool together. The next thing I know, "Underworld" does not have it under their soundtrack and I was given the hint that the movie "Jackal" had it. Why, I don't know, maybe some financal reasons with the production company. So, for those who were looking for the "Underworld" trailer song, it is here on the "Music from and Inspired by The Jackal" CD. The songs are pretty cool if you are into that rave music.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Original Score to "The Jackal" by Carter Burwell, January 5, 2007
This review is from: The Jackal: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This has nothing to do with the "soundtrack" that features various artists, but for those of you who are interested there was a VERY limited special edition of the score released for collectors a few years back. I do not know the production numbers, but needless to say I've only seen one (My own copy) so it is incredibly difficult to find. If you are a fan of the awesome themes heard in the film then this is the CD you need to look for. The complete score features 20 Tracks total and has a running time of 42:27. If you are lucky enough to track down a copy of this awesome and extremely rare score, here is what you'll get:

1. Mulqueen (1:31)
2. Van (1:14)
3. Moscow (0:59)
4. Helsinki (1:37)
5. Montreal (2:30)
6. Preston (0:56)
7. Transaction (0:24)
8. Valentina (1:26)
9. Isabella (1:24)
10. Flight (2:05)
11. MVD FBI (0:48)
12. Jackal (6:23)
13. First Lady (3:26)
14. Boat (3:18)
15. Recognition (3:21)
16. Washington (1:42)
17. S.W.A.T. (0:50)
18. Tunnel (1:36)
19. Subway (5:11)
20. End (1:55)

The limited release of the score is more costly than the soundtrack, but it is the only way you can enjoy Carter Burwell's masterful music from the movie.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Jackal (Soundtrack), December 11, 1999
By

The "incidental music" from "The Jackal" is unique and powerful. The main theme that runs throughout the movie is captivating, generating strong emotions in the listener. Unfortunately, the best music from the movie, including the main theme, is not present on the CD - that includes music "from and inspired by" the movie.

When I ordered the soundtrack to "The Jackal", I was hoping to hear the wonderful music of Carter Burwell, who is credited for the music in "The Jackal".

When will Hollywood stop deciding for listeners/consumers what they think they want to hear, and let us hear what we actually request?

3.0 out of 5 stars ¡There is no real Jackal Original Score CD!, June 1, 2002

This CD only had about two songs that were in the movie. That is why i had Amazon change this page from "The Jackal Soundtrack" by Carter Burwell to "Music from and Inspired by The Jackal" by various artists. There is no original score on the market. Varse Sarabande finally released a legit score of the Predator (1987) 16 years later. I hope a record label would do the same for The Jackal.

Other than that fact, the collection has decent music in the tracks of Red Tape and Superpredator. Very high beat and rhythm in Red Tape. The composition of Superpredator on the movie title sequence was appropriate. It was a different theme to expect, but at that a sucessful one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Music from an Excellent Movie, August 9, 1999
This review is from: The Jackal: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
The Jackal was one of the best action movies made this decade. The soundtrack is a perfect reminder of how intense and amazing the movie really is. The style of music is electronica mixed with techno. Almost the exact same style that made the Matrix so unforgetable. Fatboy Slim, Prodigy, Bush, Chemical Brothers, and many others create an awesome soundtrack. The two main songs on this CD are the two most memorable songs from the movie. "Superpredators" by Massive Attack and "Red Tape" by Agent Provocateur are songs that are very easy to play over and over again. If you liked the music for the Matrix, then you should enjoy the Jackal.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack, but where's the rest?..., February 2, 2001
This review is from: The Jackal: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This soundtrack as it stands is great, the title song from Massive Attack is cool and the main reason I bought this. But I only wish there were some tracks from the score included and the very cool 'end track'. Why of all the tracks did massive attacks' end song have to be ommitted?. If maybe this song had been present and a selection of Carter Burwell's score had been included rather than the 'inspired by' tracks I would've without a doubt given this album top marks.

1.0 out of 5 stars It stinks, and that is being nice about it., March 16, 1999

This is not a soundtrack. It is a group of songs and even some songs not even in the movie. The music in the movie was terrific and moving and deserves a CD.They tried this with Armagedden and had to release a real soundtrack CD which was great. It should be done with The Jackal too!

3.0 out of 5 stars Re: For Those Still Looking for the Massive Attack Song..., December 28, 2004

the song which plays while the end credits are rolling (as well as when the jackal is taking a break from things, lounging in his chair, finger tapping to the beat of...) is not called 'shame' but is in fact named "Dissolved Girl" which comes off of Massive Attack's 1998 cd Mezzanine.

i rated this cd three stars but that was because i had to rate it something in order to post this 'review'. i have never listened to this cd nor do i own it, so i have no opinion of its content. i posted this 'review' because i wanted to respond to the earlier reviewer who inaccurately posted the name of the song.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a "Soundtrack", December 2, 1998
By
This review is from: The Jackal: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This is yet another of the "sucker" soundtracks, in the same vein as those from "Twister" and "Appolo 13". The are NOT tracks from the motion picture. They are passed off as "soundtracks" but instead are just a collection of various artists that most of us don't know or don't care for. Unless you look for the small print that says, "Music from and inspired by..." you will be just another sucker that fell for deceptive advertising.
