5.0 out of 5 stars Two For Flinching, October 31, 2002

This review is from: Jackass (Paperback)
What a movie. What a show. This book continues the legacy of legendary Jackass lunacy in a safe and easy-to-use print format. It is a juicy documentation of the cast, crew and creative supernovas in action during the whirlwind production of the cinematic event, which you have no doubt recently seen and loved and laughed at.

Written by Sean Cliver ..., all the carnage, pain and carefully orchestrated stupidity has been observed, noted, and preserved for the proverbial record. Fans of Big Brother magazine will instantly recognize Sean's dry humor and arch wit (because Cliver was a crucial component at B.B. for years).

And yet, who needs words when there are also mountains of amazing photographs to gape at in slack-jawed wonder? The shots border on stunning artistic statements of composition and form, and do a fine job of capturing the definitive moments and characters of the J to the A to C to the K to the A to the S to the S.

In the future, this book will be used as a tool in which those studying entertainment history will have a porthole into that pivotal day in anti-Hollywood, when subversive elements stormed the gates, plundered pop culture, and left it smoking in the gutter.

Or maybe it will just be a thing that the Steve-O fans of the world describe as, "bro, this thing so rad, dude."

If you are inspired by the show and/or film in any way, you definitely want to own a copy of this book.

Enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Behind the scenes, jackass..., November 3, 2002

I was so impressed by this book! Not for the sheer fact that there was a book written about the best TV show/movie in the country, but the fact it was full of pure literary genius. The masses generally think the Jackass crew is chock full of brain-depleted imbeciles who enjoy breaking bones and shreek with joy at the first sight of blood. But what they fail to remember is these guys were writers first (that's "Big Brother" magazine for those who have a hard time keeping up), then jackasses. This book is full of literary analogies. Keep a dictionary handy--you'll need it to look up all those hard words you didn't think the Jackasses knew (and neither do you, for that matter). Buy this book! It's a great behind-the-scenes book for the movie. And if you're like me, you want to know the details.

This book was an amazing buy. Not only did it give insight into the events that went on during the complete filming of Jackass the Movie, but it gave the reader a look into the lives of the entire Jackass cast as it provided interviews with a plethora of people. Sean Cliver is a very gifted journalist/writer and his account of working on the movie was just a fun read. If you have even the most minute interest in Jackass, I definately urge you to invest in this book. You will surely enjoy.
