Jacked Up
Reviewed by Francesca & posted at Under The Covers Book Blog

There is something about fast cars, being around the racetrack and even a little bit of grease that I just find irresistible, and there is no better series to fulfill that need than the Fast Track series. With some light humor, romance, sexual tension and a good storyline, I usually find myself anxiously awaiting the next book. And JACKED UP did not disappoint!

Eve Monroe is the sister of some of our favorite drivers! She is also their manager and the one that keeps everyone in line. So when she is faced with the PR nightmare of having one of Chase's crew members jump the wall, rip his pants, and while changing a tire have his ass and family jewels showing on national television because he didn't wear any underwear... well, there's not much she can do other than do some yelling.

She is tough and everyone sees her as a bit of a bitch, but in the end this is really not what she wanted to do or who she wanted to be.

Enter Nolan Ford. OMG he is adorable, ass hanging in the wind and all!!!! He is just a small town boy, you can tell he comes from a loving family, and truly loves his job. And he has a crush on Eve. Nothing, not their financial differences, or the fact that they technically work together, will keep him from getting to know her better.

I really liked the fact that Eve doesn't end up with a driver. Nolan is perfect for her. Even though she comes from racing royalty and grew up differently than him, he is willing to give her the best that he can and truly wants to make her happy. When he helped her fix her car, or the whole Vegas thing. Just adorable!

One thing I love about this series is that the stories are nothing alike.

I really wanted to like this book, but honestly it fell short. Eve was such a witch! Nolan was overly sweet to the point of him even admitting he was "whipped". No one wants to read about a heroine's insecurities over and over again. Not to mention she was 33yrs old throwing tantrums and the hero kept accepting it... really???!!! There were parts of the book that were passable but the majority lacked authenticity, spunk and depth. I'm still trying to figure out when exactly they fell in love. The relationship was unbelievable and slightly dysfunctional. I'm being a bit redundant; but I absolutely hated Eve, she had no redeeming qualities i.e Nolan comes home with her name tattooed on his chest (who does that???) and she gives him post-nuptial papers to sign...WOW! Such a disappointment, had to delete this from my Kindle. Save yourself the irritation, pass on this book.

In this last installment of the Fast Track series Eve Monroe sister to Evan & Elec and their tough as nails PR rep gets her man. Eve is going on 33 and is one big ball of stress. Her latest problem is the viral video of Evans jackman Ford Nolan's ass (sans underwear) hanging out of a split in his firesuit while performing in the pits. Eve and Ford are opposites. She is all about doing her job and while he takes his work seriously he knows that life is meant to be enjoyed. He is intrigued by Eve and wants to show her how to have fun. Eve is not happy with her life Ford pushes his way into her life and her heart and shows her that there is more to life than being stuck in a job you hate and trying to live up to someone elses ideal of who you should be.

I really enjoyed this book. There are some really great laugh out loud moments mixed in with the awww moments. I will miss the characters from this series but I look forward to new adventures from the mind of Erin McCarthy

Format: Mass Market Paperback
Public relations specialist Eve Monroe reads the riot act to Jackman Nolan Ford for his ass showing up on You Tube when he ripped his pants working crew while his brother Evan drove. As she yells at him as the sponsors are outraged, he thinks she is hot as he has had a crush on her for quite a while. He claims an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction and uses her blouse as an example that this happens.

Nolan asks Eve to join him for a beer. She is shocked as men run when she rants and raves. They begin dating and he tosses her a birthday bash in Vegas that leads to sex. As she struggles with her unwanted feelings, he encourages her to go around the track permanently with him.

The latest Fast Track contemporary romance (see Hot Finish) is a fun tale of two polar opposites falling in love; she is a prim and proper workaholic while he is the king of mellow. Though somewhat similar in tone to Hard and Fast, fans will enjoy this trek around the Fast Track.

The latest installment in the Fast Track series by Erin McCarthy is a fun ride with a cranky heroine and her easy going hero.

Eve Monroe is unhappy and doesn't even realize it until her brother's jackman, Nolan Ford, points it out to her. Nolan makes it his mission to get the uptight Eve to let loose and have fun, but even he never imagined where their time together would lead...to happily ever after.

Eve is such a cranky character that it is hard to like her. She is brash and upfront with her opinions to the point of being flat out rude to people. She is deeply unhappy with her life and where she is both professionally and personally. I really enjoyed the changes she undergoes throughout the book as she loosens up and learns to live again, but the changes that happen at the end of the book seemed too radical. She is uptight until almost the very end and then she changes her entire life. I think it would have been more believable if the change had evolved slower and seemed more organic to what was going on in Eve's life and her relationship with Nolan.

Nolan is a fun character. He is a glass half-full kind of guy and the complete opposite of Eve. I love the way he worked to bring out her fun side. Even though he is so positive, Nolan also has a very vulnerable side that doesn't quite believe Eve could be happy with him. I love that he would do something that made him uncomfortable in order to make her happy. He gives her a surprise birthday party; even though everyone tells him she will hate it, because he knows that it will make her happy and show how much the people in her life care about her.

The previous couples from the Fast Track series are present in this book, especially Eve's siblings - Elec and Evan.
