Book Description

Jackie DuPont thought life was over when she lost her husband. Little did she know of the pain and joys that were to come. Lost in a world of sleepless nights and lonely days, Jackie finds she’s pregnant with her late husband’s child. How can she be a mother when simply getting out of bed is a struggle? Add to it a rape by a prominent attorney where she’s left for dead and we wonder, how much can Jackie’s heart take? Life seems to think she can take more—when the heart wins its battle with the mind and she falls in love, only to find herself surrounded by gunfire. Join Jackie on her journey as she discovers that it takes more courage to live than to die, to stand up for justice no matter how difficult, and to hold strong to a second chance at love—even if it means risking it all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Run! December 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Since there was no ZERO STAR for a rating, I had to go with just ONE STAR. The first three quarters of the book she spent crying and lamenting for her husband. Then the last part she spent trying to snag the good doctor. And all of this taking place within just a few months. (Isn't there some sort of doctor/patient rule?) I remember when my sweetie passed away, it was three years later before I finally noticed my favorite trees were in bloom again. I enjoy escape reading, but this was terrible. It had every cheap cliche included and none of them developed. Yuck!!! The heroine was not even likeable. Save your self and your time and run from this thing called a book.

5.0 out of 5 stars very good May 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was a little unsure about this book when I first got sounded like there was to much going on. Surprising enough, it wasn't. This book was great it keeps you going from beginning to end. Though the stuff going on with the good doctor towards the end was almost to the point where it was to much you get what the author is trying to get across with strengths that we posses and how we can indeed handle what life throws us no matter how bad we are stronger than we know. And yes am little cranky since I don't know sex of babies or names almost took a star away...not really. It was a really good book and I was pleasantly surprised. Happy reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading!!!! January 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I found myself deeply pulled into this story from the first page. I could relate to the characters feelings. Jackie, the main character, is very real. This story was full of unexpected twists which made it hard to put the book down. It appears the author has a sequel in mind which I would look forward to reading.

This was a fantastic book, it shows how strong women really are. My only complaint - we never found out the sex or names of the babies!

More About the Author

Hello and thanks for visiting my author page. I'm Ellen and am the author of I Never Held You, a book about miscarriage, grief, healing and recovery. I wrote this book because I didn't want women to feel as alone as I did after my miscarriage some twenty-years ago. It was a "pre-Internet" world, and trying to find something to help me with my grief seemed impossible. In my book, I share my own journey- from the initial shock to reaching a place of healing, with all the steps in between. Dr. Linda Backman wrote several very helpful chapters from a grief counselor's point of view, and from the heart of a woman who survived the loss of her son Adam, born at 26 weeks who lived for about an hour.

I also run a support site, I've been doing this since 2006. Providing women a place to vent, share and read the stories of others is very important to me. Why? Women who connect with others who have lived the same often feel far less alone and more understood.

I've also been published by: Blue Mountain Arts, "I Whispered a Prayer or Two" greeting card & in their gift book, "Sisters"; am a contributing author in More God Allows U-Turns, Barbour Publishing/Promise Press; Conquering Panic and Anxiety Disorders, Success Stories, Strategies and other Good News, Hunterhouse Publishing.
