5.0 out of 5 stars What a great disc!!!
I haven't heard every song on this CD yet, but from what I've heard so far, it is great! Chingy and Twista are like the best rap I've heard in a while. And the fact that this edition of the CD comes with a bonus DVD makes it even more worth getting!!! Recommended indeed! My favorite song on the CD as of this moment is "Wurrs My Cash?", but that could change when...

3.0 out of 5 stars 1/2 CD with Same Sampled Track
This CD is banging for some kind of party. But if ur a "True Hip Hop Listener" this cd is garbage. First of all, this guy has no talent and absolutely no flow, he sometimes just say a line, say a word, pause, and go to the next to make himself rhyme. First of all, this guy has no talent and absolutely no flow, he sometimes just say a line, say a word, pause, and go to the next to make himself rhyme. Next, he is not "GANGSTA" but that is not my main concern. Third, he has this funny accent that's even funnier than Nelly's. The production remain constant throughout, guess why, because 1/2 of the song sampled from the same track. You can tell from the instrumental. This dude is definitely the Pop Icon, but hes rap has absolutely no point. Cash Money & No Limit's Bling gets old but at least they are trying to say something, "Gangsta" rappers have their message, Smilez & Southstar talks about partying and girls and CHingy cant even do that right. It just sound like hes repeating himself throught the songs, but these songs are SOLID for partying because the beats does jamm and nobody really payys attention to lyrics @ dances and such so...3 stars for trying...

"Make it hop, boing like a bunny/Girl can I touch you where it's sunny/or a purse and make you give her some money..."

WOW!

These are the type of rhymes that have been hitting the St. Louis mainstream since mid 2000. As many of the reviewers have stated, Chingy has very little or no talent at all. The 2 lines above were taken from his hit single "Right Thurr". To be honest, I bought the CD just because of the big hitting bass of that song. So when I decided to listen to the rest of the CD, things just went down. Aside from Chingy's terrible rhymes, the production is horrible also. Blame the Trackstarz for some of the short commings as in the second song "He's Herre" with the addition of Chingy's, I'd say sub-medicore, lyrics with the song makes it not all good. Another Trackstarz production is the song "Chingy Jackpot" that may be known to get people in a club onto the dance floor. By the three songs I just named, most of Chingy's [wack] lyrics have something to do with sex, drinking, or smoking. He couldn't even leave it out of the possibly best song on the CD and the 3rd single "One Call Away" a love song where he says, "...we can go puff on a blunt/oh you don't smoke, we can go somewhere and get drunk..." Intoxication is highly on his agenda. Sex is also on it too as he says on the song "Sample That A**" featuring Murphy Lee of the St. Lunitics which is ran through by a weak (and uncreative) hook. To make matters worse, the thought he could take the talent on (I'm not sure if this is really) singing on the song "Wurrs My Cash" thinking he is a pimp asking one of his so-called hoes "Wurrs My Cash?" She would have been better off with a [normal] 9 to 5 job, than working for this joke of a pimp.

But there is a sunshine through the small cracks of this CD. Chingy barely steps his lyrical content on the second single "Holidae Inn" (give it a few more years before that becomes a lawsuit), where he raps about going to a party with Ludacris and Snoop Dogg with a bunch of girls. "Bagg Up" is a song for some reason I'm liking, because Chingy pulls it together with some meidocore lyrics such as "The streets is mine, like a mixtape when an emcee rhyme..". The last song "Right Thurr (Remix)" features Jermaine Dupri and Trina was not that much appealing as the first one, unless you want to hear some verses from others.

Chingy's debut is not all that good except for those who have a taste for his style or want to hear some club or dance tracks to bounce to. Recommended for people who are exactly just for that, or just want to hear some music come out of St. Louis.

when "right thurr" first came on the radio in the lou waaaayy back last year, it was hot. its a great song to dance to, but i never thought he'd be bigger than local. "holidae inn" was tight too, but then all the pop fans hooked on to that and played it out. "one call away" was sort of cool on the album, but now that its on the radio 24/7 i hate it. really, the whole album isnt worth buying. get a friend to bootleg it for you so you can have some tracks for a party, but otherwise, dont waste your money. the only other good song is "bagg up" cuz the beat is tight, and "sample dat ass" and "represent" are okay. chingy is fine, and his songs are good for a party, plus i gotta hold it down for him a little since he's from st. louis, but truth is, he's just not that great of a rapper.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst album of 2003, December 16, 2003
This review is from: Jackpot (Bonus Dvd) (Audio CD)
Now, people that know me know that I hardly ever give anything one star, because for me to give an album one star it really has to stink. Well, this album from Chingy DOES.

First off, the album is mostly produced by some Neptunes wannabes called Trak Starz (whose very name bears an uncanny resemblance to the Neptunes' record label, Star Trak), and sometimes the production is overpowering, especially in the first real track, "He's Herre". But production is the least of that song's problems, for as soon as the chorus starts, you'll know you'll be in for a bumpy ride. And "Gettin' It" has the same problem.

And bad choruses don't stop there. "Represent" featuring I-20 (some may remember him from Ludacris' "Move B") has "Throw yo' hood up if you representin'" for a hook, "Chingy Jackpot" has a girl asking him "Chingy/Why yo' eyes so Chingy?" (WTF?), and "Sample Dat A**" fills the chorus with the dated phrase "Don't stop, get it get it". Murphy Lee is featured on the latter song, and he doesn't bring anything to the table for the REST of the song either (not that I expected him to), especially when he uses lines like "Never trust a big butt and a smile like Ricky Bell".

Also, most of the songs on here are back-that-a**-up style tracks, as evidenced by "Right Thurr" and the awful "Holidae In", as well as "Juice" and the aforementioned "Sample Dat A**". But don't worry, ladies; he still can be sentimental, as he shows - or TRIES to show - on the soft "One Call Away".

Other bad points on this album are the pointless skits (especially "F Dat N") and "Madd @ Me", an obligatory don't-hate-on-me track. And even Jermaine Dupri outshines Chingy on the "Right Thurr" remix (also featuring Trina). This album is so bad that "Right Thurr" might be the best song on here. I would call it a drink coaster, but I'm afraid it might then ruin your drinks. High school kids may eat this album up, but I think I'll stick to REAL rap music, like - well, ANYthing else is real rap music.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just a guy being used to make a quick buck off a couple songs teenager girls might like, June 16, 2006

I'm from St. Louis and have been listening to St. Lunatics tapes since the late 90's. Nelly came onto the national scene and showed the face of the midwest. Chingy is a tool being used by Jermaine Dupri to bottom feed on the St. Louis rapper pool to make a worthless rapper look the part and promote his songs big because their shelf life is on par with ground beef. Nelly is the real deal, he is what comes across in his music which has depth and truth. Chingy is a kid looking at his idols and trying to copy it. He should get on his knees and thank Jermaine Dupri every day and save every dime he makes because even teenage girls get sick of bad musicians (if you can call him that).
