I'm Amazed I'm Writing the First Review,
By Mike80 (Columbia, MD USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jackrabbit and the Prairie Fire (Smithsonian Wild Heritage Collection) (Paperback)
This is one of my favorite children's books. I marvel at the beautiful, exquisitely detailed pencil drawings. The story is simplicity itself, but it tells a wonderful tale of survival in the wild. There is an amazing amount to talk about with a young child -- the desert, the variety of animals, the concept of fire. My daughter loved this book when she was little and now I am reading it to my 3 year-old who enjoys it too. None of us tire at looking again and again at the jackrabbit with its enormous ears and powerful hindlimbs; for me it is one of the most beautiful images in any of my kids books.
