This review is from: The "Key" of Jacob Boehme (Studies in Historical Theology) (Paperback)
Very basic overview, which is stated in a factual manner by William Law - though Law himself did not agree with many of Boehme's views, such as the wrath of God.One valuable aspect of the book is that it contains many diagrams by D.A. Freher - a student of Boehme. I usually mention the need to have "eyes" to see, in my reviews. So many try to comprehend with the intellect - it's a losing battle. God has HID things from the wise lest they should SEE and understand. As stated in the first paragraph of the book: It is written, The natural man receives not the things of the Spirit, nor the Mystery of the kingdom of God, they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them: therefore I admonish and exhort the CHRISTIAN lover of Mysteries, if he will study these high writings, and read, search, and understand them, that he does not read them outwardly only, with sharp speculation and meditation; for in so doing, he shall remain in the outward imaginary ground only, and obtain no more than a counterfeit color of them. If you are wearing rose colored glasses - you will never see the "white horse" though he is standing right in front of you. As someone once said, Those who are in possession of the code {in this case - Born Again} will readily decipher the message. Cor ad cor loquitur. Or better yet - Spirit to Spirit. |
