We use this toaster daily. Our home is powered by our own alternative energy system, and items that use heat, like a toaster, is not something we can power. I have used this toaster almost daily since 1999. Last year, I had to replace the original one with a new one, which I did not buy here on Amazon, since the folding ones were the only ones available. Now I see this one is now available on Amazon.

I am not sure how it would work on an electric stove, but it works great on the propane cooking range, or my wood cook stove. The toast has to be watched closely or it will burn. Not much difference there, than those darn electric toasters. I remember them well from my previous homes. It toasts the bread evenly if you flip it around when one side is done to your likeness. The toaster will change color, and not be shiny like the photo after a couple of months of constant use. That makes no difference in the usefulness of this toaster. It does a good job and we are happy with it. I plan on always using this type of toaster, even if we expand our energy system.

It is a nice toaster and can be used if your power goes out and you have a gas stove. Or it can taken on camping trips and used on a camp fire. I recommend it to my friends and people who visit my blogs. I am not comparing it to the modern electric toaster, as that is a whole other thing.

I bought this during Hurricane Sandy when we were without power for 10 days. Our gas stove was working and we enjoyed perfect toast the entire time.

Yes, it is a great idea, but it is definitely NOT genuine. Unfortunately this is a knockoff of a early 1900's toaster that would toast 4 slices of bread, using every side of the stand. Also you can notice that the picture has a slice of bread with numerous lines running through it. It is obvious that this slice of bread has been previously toasted elsewhere and then deposited onto the pictured toaster for desired effect. Oh well...
