Wonderful CD, June 30, 2007

This is just one of many wonderful CDs offered by Smithfield Fair. And if you are lucky enough and able, try to see them in concert. They travel a fair deal around the country (at Highland Games, Pubs, etc.) My husband is of Scottish descent and really loves hearing a "bit of the old country."

Wow! This band just gets better and better and better. This album has a great deal of spirit and energy, but not of the everyday common frenzy of jigs and reels. There is substance and depth here and the songs are VERY thought-provoking. The vocals are gorgeous and Jan Smith sings straight from the heart in many colors and dimensions. For a trio, they are a dynamo and every listen uncovers more. The band's original songs are the high point, though. From tinkers to silkies to fighters for the cause of an independent Scotland - the songs cover a great deal of ground and the music is just...WOW!
