4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings on this Breed Book
I'm torn between three and a half and four stars on this one. While I enjoyed "Jacob's Faith" by Lora Leigh, I kept wishing over and over to get past the intimate scenes and, finally, on to the plot. By about half-way through the book, there was still not much plot to be seen. The intimate scenes (while still the same scorchingly naughty stuff we are used to from Leigh)...

3.0 out of 5 stars More plot--a little less sex!
Can't actually believe I'm writing this--usually I'm saying where is the romance--how about another love scene--but it isn't so much that there was too much sex--as there was not enough plot...

The actually plot itself could have been written in 3 or less chapters--all the rest is Jacob and Faith screwing--and I mean screwing their brains out...

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings on this Breed Book, December 6, 2005
This review is from: Jacob's Faith (Wolf Breeds, Book 2) (Paperback)
I'm torn between three and a half and four stars on this one. While I enjoyed "Jacob's Faith" by Lora Leigh, I kept wishing over and over to get past the intimate scenes and, finally, on to the plot. By about half-way through the book, there was still not much plot to be seen. The intimate scenes (while still the same scorchingly naughty stuff we are used to from Leigh) can only do so much for me before I become bored with that and need something a little more substantial.

Jacob and Faith haven't seen each other for six years - not since that fateful night in the labs of the immoral Genetics Council - when hell literally broke loose and many of the Breeds escaped. Quick recap for those of you not familiar with Leigh's Breed series: The Genetics Council is a secret government organization whose sole purpose was to create the perfect soldier/assassin by splicing animal dna with human dna. The result was wolf, feline and coyote "breeds", plus others not yet known of. Faith has endured going into heat without her mate Jacob, and is determined to do without for even longer. When their pack leader sends her to find him, their animal attraction cannot be denied, despite the conflict that still comes between them. How does one deny the needs of their body when their heart is in such conflict with the very person they want nothing to do with? This is the very problem for each. Faith would rather have nothing to do with the alpha male who left her literally aching for his touch. Jacob has sworn to stay away from Faith, believing she is much safer from the Council without him. Meanwhile, the Council's soldiers seem to have targeted Faith for no reason they can determine. It seems surprisingly easy for the soldiers to find them too, leading the wolf Breeds to believe the Council still has help from the Coyote Breeds (who are suposedly the most cunning of all the Breeds) that are still under Council control. Hang in till the very end too to discover a new twist to the Breed stories, one that hasn't come into play till this installment.

Sounds like plenty of plot, right? Well, what little bit we get in this seventh Breed book is certainly good, but there's just not enough of it. Nothing but sex, sex and more sex till more than half-way through the book. Yes, I like that aspect of the book too, but the story line for this series is so unique and interesting that I would rather have had more plot. I'm hoping to find more of that plot in the next book, which is "Aiden's Charity", about a young woman employed by the council that in fact was trying to aid the Breeds and found herself "attached" to one of them in the process.

So if you are a fan of Leigh's Breed series, do pick up Jacob's Faith" for your collection. Given the plot we get at the end of the book it's definitely not to be missed out on. Some very important things to the story (as a whole) are mentioned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the book to start with., May 23, 2006
This review is from: Jacob's Faith (Wolf Breeds, Book 2) (Paperback)
Ok...this review is for those of you who have stumbled into this wonderful series and are thinking of starting with this book. This is NOT the book you want to read, to "break into" this series. While some of the books can be read out of order you will get MUCH more enjoyment starting with book one of the "breed" series. A friend lent me this book so I started here. This book was confusing out of order with the rest of the series, so after I read it the first time, I went back and started at the beginning. Wow. Great series! Get this book and read it...but do yourself a favor and start at the beginning...you will be very glad you discovered another author to add to your list of keepers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story and Wonderful Voice of Erotic Romance, May 23, 2004
This review is from: Jacob's Faith (Wolf Breeds, Book 2) (Paperback)
If you like your hero's alpha and enjoy the erotic heat of a wonderful writer then this is your book. I love sci. fi. This is the second in Ms. Leigh's trilogy about the Wolf Breeds. She has developed an interesting and fast paced world that many try to duplicate and fail miserably. She is the original voice and Ms. Leigh's unique and captivating writing style draws the reader in and will not let you go from start to finish.
The Breeds is a genetically developed race that was bred to be a fighting force for the Council. This is the Sequel to Wolf's Hope. Ms. Leigh has created an on going series that is not only intellectually superior to others but is highly erotic.
Jacob is a Wolf Breed whose Mate cannot face him or herself after they both almost consummated the relationship. Faith is upset that Jacob has left her to her misery of facing not only her longing for Jacob's love but also physically as her mate.
Jacob out of mistaken nobility has left Faith to mature into a woman ready to accept him and his life. Faith is a No Nonsense heroin who would never allow herself to be mistreated. She can beat several of the males with no problem challenging Jacob. She is the type of No Nonsense Heroine we have needed in Romanitica. No Whiney Wimpy characters in this story.
So if you want a sappy love story this is not it. If you want a No Nonsense heroine who stands up for herself then GRAB this book. You will love it and Jacob who I wish was around today in the world of the Metro sexual male.

Great Breed Story
WOW!!! This is the story of Jacob and Faith. Genetically altered at birth with Wolf DNA and forced to live and obey the scientist that created them. One night in the lab Jacob and Faith were thrown together. Something happens and Faith is marked. Jacob does not know he has done this. He is already feeling guilty about being with Faith. This is the story of thier escape and what happens after. I found Faith to be an exciting character and very sure of herself. This story is serious but does have humorous situations and lots of sexual tension. I highly recommend this book. Thank you Ms. Leigh

4.0 out of 5 stars Smoking!, January 1, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Jacob's Faith (Wolf Breeds, Book 2) (Paperback)
Oh my, my prudish self is steaming. This is a very graphic erotic book. It makes Harlequins look like children's books. Well, it kept me reading all night long! My poor husband was neglected. The front cover is even hot!

We get to see some insight as to what the labs were like for the wolves. I read the Feline Breeds 1 & 2 and Megan's Mark. It was refreshing to read about the wolves. In the Feline Breeds books, there was very little insight as to what occurred in the labs. It helps to explain why they are nervous around the felines or keep separate.

After the labs, Jacob felt guilty as to what he did with Faith in the lab. He felt like he raped her and stole her virtue. Meanwhile, Faith never felt that way and always waited for him to come back. She became bitter even though they were mated. She turned to other means to help herself sexually. She was angry and became independent of the pack. Jacob tried to avoid her but found out that he could not resist her. Meanwhile, the soldiers and the coyotes are still trying to hunt them down.

This is a quick read. The plot is kind of thin but does add a few other interactions so, our characters can take a break from sex. I feel like the rest of the plot is filler and it probably is but it was still great. Lora Leigh is queen when it comes to erotica books.

Read it in the privacy of your own home! Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars MMMM....., December 13, 2005
This review is from: Jacob's Faith (Wolf Breeds, Book 2) (Paperback)
Leigh is a wonderful writer with neat plots and very sexy love scenes to make her books even more worth your while. This is a part of Leigh's Breed Series so...to really understand about that...see the review below. As for the actual plot of this particular "Breed" story...it was a bit different from the others. Both characters involved are wolf breeds (they both have wolf instincts). Faith and Jacob obviously care deeply for one another but have trouble showing it. Jacob wants Faith but he feels that it is the wrong time. Faith wants Jacob but she's afraid of rejection. They know they are each others mates but they keep fighting each other for some reason, which boggles me b/c Faith is in "heat" for years but she still denies it. Overall, I definitely recommend this book, not only b/c of the story and plot, but b/c Leigh's writing is truly unique and has the power to pull her readers into every story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jacob's Faith is another winner, May 23, 2004
This review is from: Jacob's Faith (Wolf Breeds, Book 2) (Paperback)
Lora Leigh continues her stories of the fascinating world of the wolf breeds, genetically engineered men and women who fight against those who tried to enslave them. This is the second book in the wolf breed series, following Wolfe's Hope, and is the story of Jacob and Faith.

Both Jacob and Faith are wolf breeds that were forced into an early mating by the nefarious council, who originally bred them. They escape the labs the same night as this forced mating and run for their lives.

Jacob has loved Faith for years, but feels guilty that she was never given a choice in their mating. He lets her go in order to allow her to discover herself. Only when he is ordered by his clan to go retrieve her does he realizes that they must be together forever.

This is a wonderful story of two people caught up in circumstances beyond their control. They love just as fiercely as they fight, but you can never imagine them not eventually ending up together. This book is hot, hot, hot!

In addition, this book gives further insights into the world of the breeds and the many intrigues that are following them. Run, don't walk, to your keyboard and order this book. Lora Leigh has once again written a winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jacob's Faith, November 5, 2006
By
This review is from: Jacob's Faith (Wolf Breeds, Book 2) (Paperback)
Main character sacrifices himself to save the woman he loves because he feels she is too young to return his affection. The girl in question becomes an adult resents his denial and sees it as a betrayal. Toward the end both realize a common enemey and fight to overcome obstacles and both realize through in depth search of themselves they are capable of obtaining their heart's desire. Also, sexually explicit.
