Book Description

How Do I Still Be A Mom?
You prepared for the expected. What about the unexpected events that lead you directly to the confines of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit? As you begin your new role, you can feel more like a visitor than a mom as the (temporary) circumstances dictate the part you will play in your new baby's life.

This book validates a mother's anguish of leaving the hospital without her baby while helping her to embrace the unique experience of parenting a preemie.

Learn how to become a part of your baby's world.

Find out what you can expect from him and from his new surroundings.

Discover ways to be involved in his care and follow his progress.

A special chapter just for dad too! Make the most of this time and remember, bonding doesn't happen all at once. Whatever you do, don't take a back seat and wait for it all to be over.

Editorial Reviews

Review

A nice book for parents of new preemies (or parents-to-be). Helpful advice is given on topics such as becoming comfortable in the NICU, breastfeeding your preemie, asserting yourself in the parenting role in the NICU and getting to know your baby. This easy to read and encouraging book on preemie parenting in the NICU is a welcome addition to preemie literature. --Alison Martin, prematurity.org

About the Author

Kristine is an average mom who has gone through some unexpected experiences. Her first child was born three months premature and was followed by a number of miscarriages. Together, they shared those experiences as parent volunteers for families whose babies are born too soon and consequently spend the first weeks of parenting within the boundaries of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Kristine is the author and publisher of this book. Her writings focus on the power and authenticitiy of an individuals feelings. Her children's stories teach children they are unique and special.
