Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was a complex woman who led a fascinating life. I've always wanted to know the woman behind the public image, and this book fulfilled my wish. The author skillfully reveals the mystery and complexity of her famous subject. A woman of poise, grace and beauty, Jackie charmed the most powerful and influential people of her time as well as coping with immense challenges and tragedies with dignity and faith. The author adeptly uses suspense and foreshadowing to keep the reader turning pages and reveal the full scope of Jackie's strong character traits. Donna Brown Agins has created a layered and intriguing biography and painted an intimate portrait of a captivating and inspiring woman.

This well-researched biography of one of our most elegant, accomplished First Ladies will be a good companion volume for any young person or adult studying the tumultuous times in which John F. Kennedy was President. Ms. Brown Agins has woven the fabric of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's life within the context of the era in which she lived and highlighted her skills as a First Lady, a mother, and an editor. Excellent resources, original quotes, intriguing anecdotes, a compelling read.

"During times of crisis, Jackie's true strength always came through." This book paints a vivid portrait of one of America's most fascinating first ladies. Her amazing capacity for diplomacy, grace, and courage shine through here. Wonderful details appear about her role in preserving and renovating the White House and her efforts to make the job of first lady meaningful and giving. Readers get a real sense of why Jackie was a truly great lady. A fine and fascinating read!
