This Author Helped me Improve my Own Photography,

This review is from: Jacques Henri Lartigue: The Invention of an Artist (Hardcover)
I first saw Lartigue's pictures in the library when I was a boy. Ever since I have wanted to know more about him. Wow, was I surprised when I bought this book. Lartique's early work wasn't that of a boy genius, like we have been led to belief, but really the result of serious, planned, effort. And Lartique documented just about every picture he took.
But the best part about this book is that the author, Kevin Moore, really helped me to improve my own photography so much. His descriptions of how early photographers learned how to place things like horizon lines, or positioning the camera just downhill from the action, or using a blurred foreground instead of a blurred background to emphasize the subject (as in cinema) really opened my eyes. I started taking better pictures the very next day! I actually found this book to be a bit of a page turner. Well done. |
