In JADE, the FBI draws a retired and aging aviator back into remembering a Cold War incident involving Cuba, China and an assassinated American president. An event forty years ago should have started WW-III, but a long-lost old friend seems to return from the dead instead
and an implausible romance begins, preempting nuclear-biological terrorism.
The story is set in the near future and built around historical events shaping the life of B. C. Zimmermann. All of the flying events really occurred and are recorded in his log-books
except for the incursion into Communist China with its subsequent escape and evasion. His life actually began in China before WW-II, but most of the names and all of the future events are obviously fictional adventure.
All of the Air Force and commercial flying and travelling events, as well as the original courtship are part of his life story, including details previously unrevealed to the public regarding the hijacking of TWA 847. He is retired from TransWorld and Nippon Cargo Airlines as a pilot/engineer, from the United States Air Force as a Senior (Command) Pilot, from the Lutheran clergy (LCMS Bishop emeritus), as well as from Cascade City (Council President) and State of Idaho (State Representative). He and his wife Melvia (39 years) are retired in Cascade, Idaho.
