Jade Rosin: Wonderful,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Jade (L'Opera) Rosin for Violin, Viola & Cello
I recently bought this rosin (having never used it before) after using many different rosins such as kaplan, pirastro, light and dark hill, and others. This is DEFINATELY my favorite by far. great grip and doesn't produce much dust. I was using this to play on the Bach Cello Suites (arranged for viola) and it gave me great volume, and, I could play softly (on the string, not in) and not sound muffled or airy, due the wonderful tack of the rosin. BUY!!

My 13-year old says "Best rosin ever !",

I bought this for my daughter after reading some really good reviews on other web sites. I was not disappointed. We live in Eastern TN, and are humid so I was a bit leary buying a darkish rosin, but no worries my daughter is delighted, she says it is "awesome" and that it "doesn't squeak" like her old amber rosin. She said it was easy to apply and lasts. It came wrapped in a cloth in a hard plastic container. There were less expensive rosins, but I feel that this was worth the extra cost.

Excellent sticky rosin,

Jade rosin gives a extra grippiness to the bow. It hardly generates any dust, and gives the bow that extra grab. The only problem is that the effect wears off quickly. I use it in combination with Motrya Gold.

I loved this rosin, really I did. Very little dust, great tackyness and produces a wonderful sound. The only problem is that it's *fragile* After just a semester of use, I've barely gotten the top layer off the cake, but the whole thing is cracking and falling apart! It's like it's made of sugar. Since I was the concert master for my highschool orchestra, my tuner and rosin became a class resource. It may be that one of them dropped it and neglected to tell me, so if you do buy guard it with your life. It is worth the price, but only if it's kept in a condition to use it.

You won't find a better rosin!,

I have been playing the violin for about 16 years, during which time I have used any number of different rosins. From the cheap block rosin that the music store gives with your first instrument to specialty European rosins, but have not found a better option than Jade. I went from using a $25 rosin made by Pirastro to this a few years ago, and I found the difference to be staggering. It gives an exceptionally good grip, but without clumping on the strings. It does make less dust than most, but after a few hours practice there is still a noticeable accumulation.
In short, you would be hard pressed to find a better rosin!

I just got this rosin, wiped off my bow (previous rosin was Art), and applied the Jade. Wow, what a difference. Suddenly a smoother tone and very crisp and clean in spiccato. I sound like I've been practicing much more than I have -- I don't understand why folks would try to save a few bucks with something cheaper.

Best for everyone!,

It doesnt matter if your in the school orchestra or professional orchestra, this is awsome. I was going to buy it, when some of my friends did, AND my teacher, and eventually allmost everyone that i knew wanted it! So i got it, from Florida it worked great, than i moved to New York and it STILL gives me a more professional sound. It makes your instrument SO much louder and grip VERY well. Last forever and takes very little bit to coat your bow. Allmost NO dust!
AMAZING!

This rosin is pretty ok for a step up from standard rosin. I don't think this stuff sticks very well and it sqeaks quite a bit for me.
Rosin is usually a personal preference so you may love this rosin or even hate it.

I was using a Pirastro Goldflex because I am in an very humid area, but when I used this one for the first time, my violin sounds so much better, everyone who listen when I play say that now I play beautiful that sounds excellent! and I don't see more dust than the pirastro.

The reason I like it is the lack of residue coating the back of my throat after playing. Some rosins seem to send up a cloud of dust from the strings that I would then inhale. This rosin is better behaved and more refined. Yes, it sounds nice as well and is worth the extra expense.
