Many examples of what you wish you could say in response, December 15, 2006
This review is from: Mad's Al Jaffee Spews out Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions (Mass Market Paperback)
Unlike some of the humor that appeared in Mad Magazine decades ago, the contents of this book has lost nothing in the last four decades. In many ways it could be subtitled, "The things that I wish I could get away with saying when I hear a question like this." Questions like:
*) You are carrying several suitcases out to your car and you neighbor asks, "Going on a trip?"
*) You are on the phone and someone asks, "Are you on the phone?"
*) You are walking into a voting booth and someone asks, "Are you going to vote?"
*) A person is standing near a wall loaded with no smoking signs and asking, "Can I smoke?"
The comebacks are typical of the Mad Magazine mentality, biting, yet containing an enormous amount of truth. If you ever found yourself searching for a smart answer to a stupid question, then this book is where you want to have your nose pointed.
