Did 500 pounds of apples in 8 hours!,

This press is wonderful. We were able to do 500 pounds of apples into 30 gallons of cider in just 8 hours. I was sceptical about how well the press would work with as fast as we were going, but the pomace was very dry when it came out of the press. (I cooked the pomace in the steam juicer and it made great applesauce.) The press was VERY easy to clean, also. You do have to apply polyurethne after you get it, and it does not come with the wheels that are in the picture, so it is not as easy to move around as it looks. The chopper did whole apples as long as a strong teenage boy or a man was cranking. The rest of us cut the apples in half. All in all, it was well worth the cost.

Poor construction.,

Jaffrey Cider Press I believed the advertisement about strong maple wood construction. However, on pressing the very first batch of apples, the cross members of the press cracked. My 10-year old grand daughter was turning the press when the cracking noise started. I thought it was just the pieces adjusting since the assembly holes are oversized for the bolts. However, with what I consider no more than normal pressure, both cross members cracked. Upon further inspection, the wood is very coarse grained and light weight so it is not the strong maple advertised. Buyer beware!
