Editorial Reviews

The sagacious Granite State Destroyers return with what just might be their most fully realized slab of unbridled turpitude to date: Scissorfight's fifth full-length, Jaggernaut, is at once an act of civil disobedience, an exploration of the primal psyche, and a celebration of the tried and true tradition of backwoods motherfuckery.

Dog-Man summed it up pretty well. This release has been long overdue, but it brings the thunder. Scissorfight have been able to keep the intensity moving forward, while tightening their sound, not changing it...but making it sharper. Gone are the growling snarls from Ironlung(lord knows how long a human or non-human can keep that up), but the vocals are in your face non-the-less. The lock-step guitar/bass/drums are as tight as ever. Initial standouts for me are "Dynamite"(opener that is as hard as any that they have released), "The Dredge"(perhaps their best song to date), and "Mange"(eery guitar with Weiland type megaphone vocals)...but the whole disc is rock solid. Slight departures are "Fang"(instrumental that really shows groove) and "Appalachian Chain"(blue grass feel). How Scissorfight will top this..let's hope we find out. Best hard rock band out there in my opinion.

Purchasing this album on a hunch, I was blown away when I first gave it a listen. Riff madness from start to finish with growling vocals like a dog latched on to his bone. I really like the vocal variety from track to track that seems to add that special touch to each song. Lyrically the tracks are fun and don't make a mockery of the damn good music these guys put out.

This album is HUGE from a fans standpoint and I can't imagine any other way to describe it. Just turn up your volume and crank up the bass a notch to feel it. For fans of Alabama Thunderpussy, SWS, White Zombie and the like.

We have been waiting five long years for this record to emerge. Well folks, the monster has finally arrived and it is here to rip your head off. Buy this. Venture into the woods. Bring along some "fuel" and get ready for a backwoods party only SCISSORFIGHT could bring you!

This album is phenomenal. If you are a fan of Clutch (Elephant Riders and everything after), imagine if Clutch's drunken uncles from NH got together, turned up the distortion (and heaviness), and made an album. Very solid rock - diverse, heavy, banjos, crunchy, good leads, hysterical vocals...all and all very entertaining like an album should be. If you never saw Scissorfight live, you missed out - the tour that accompanied this album was awesome. Highly recommended for fans of Clutch, Orange Goblin, High on Fire, Monster Magnet, Unida, and Entombed (To Ride Shoot and Speak the Truth and everything after).

I remember reading rave reviews for Scissorfight albums in Metal Maniacs magazine (RIP) years back, but never had the chance to pick up one of their records because, of course, none of the record stores in my area carried their albums.

Then, as fate would have it, a decade later I stumbled upon an internet survey rating Scissorfight vocalist Ironlung against some other dude. I'd completely forgotten about Ironlung and Scissorfight until then.

By now the band was inactive, which happens to be the case for a lot of bands I discover, but luckily Amazon has the bulk of their discography available on mp3.

I read a few reviews here, listened to a few tracks on YouTube and was hooked. Right up my alley. Like a heavier, rawer Clutch or a modern, minimalist Lynyrd Skynyrd, these guys bring the balls out, ass-shaking boogie like few bands can!

If you miss actual ROCK N ROLL, dig bands like Clutch or Nashville Pussy and are sick of all the angry, repetitive nonsense modern rock radio shoves down your throat, your troubles are over.

This is only the first album of theirs I've purchased. Can't wait to check out the rest!!
