Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

In the newest installment in her jaguar shape-shifter series, seasoned novelist Spear redeems Wade Patterson, who appeared in Savage Hunger (2012) as a pseudovillain. Patterson is a member of the Golden Claws, an elite squad of shifters who, among other things, works to protect both shifters and regular jaguars from hunters. When he’s in a Houston nightclub looking for information about an upcoming hunt, the last person he expects to run into is Maya Anderson, whose twin is Connor, the focus of the previous novel. Maya is a wildcat on the prowl, not looking for anything long-term, but the minute Wade looks into her eyes, he’s hooked. The two start talking and discover that the area Wade worries is rife with poachers is where Maya and her family will be vacationing. They decide to team up to save the jaguars and keep each other safe, and soon sparks fly. Spear does a great job of providing enough exposition so that even readers new to the series will fully enjoy this delightful, funny romance. --Amber Peckham

More About the Author

USA TODAY bestselling, and award-winning author and creator of award-winning teddy bears who have found homes all over the world including Australia, Switzerland, China, and Russia, and a retired officer of the US Army Reserves, I love to plant trees and flowers and if I could, I'd turn all the deserts green. Time travels are my favorite read, although I love to read most anything, and the Bourne series, Romancing the Stone, Sixth Sense, Legend, The Princess Bride, Stardust, Inkheart, LOTR, and tons of other movies are my favorites.

I love to research, to make urban fantasy worlds real, to bring a little of the paranormal into our world. Even in "Winning the Highlander's Heart" the heroine feels she is cursed and she has second sight. But I try to do it in a way that feels real, and not fantasized. :) Currently, I'm working on book 2 of the new jaguar shifter series, but still am working on wolf book number 12 and 13! So more hunky wolves to come! A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing has just released.

Jaguar Fever is the second book in Terry Spear's jaguar series. If you've read anything of Spear's in the past you won't be disappointed. Always the expert at penning true to form animal shifter stories, be it her wolves or now jaguars, she takes the reader into the mind of both the animal and human making sure that the animal's true nature shines above all else. The characters in Mia and Wade, both of whom we met previously in Savage Hunger, are a perfect blend of sexy, sweet, funny, and wild. There are plenty of other characters in the story and we even get to spend some time with Kat and Connor. Wade's brother along with Connor and Maya's cousins are a fantastic addition to the series and really opened a lot of opportunities for future books.

I have reviewed so many Terry Spear books over the years, but I never tired of her style of writing and never feel as if she's retelling the same story with different characters. Jaguar Fever is filled with just the right amount of heat to balance out the action and blends in humorous character interactions to give the reader a perfectly well rounded read. If you're a big cat lover this is a must read as you will easily feel the passion that Terry has for the animals spill over into her story. You won't find any half-man/half-jaguar creatures in this story so if you're looking for that, don't bother. If you want a true shifter experience then you've chosen the right author because no one does jaguars (and wolves) like Terry does!

5 Stars!

JAGUAR FEVER is the second storyline in the Heart of the Jaguar series by Terry Spear. Although it is the second installment, it can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty. Some of the previous storyline characters play secondary roles, but any pertinent information is revealed throughout this particular novel. This story focuses on Maya Anderson and Wade Patterson who were introduced in book one-Savage Hunter.

The storyline focuses on the Patterson brothers and more specifically alpha he-man Wade Patterson, as he and his brother David, search for a group of people who have been illegally importing wild jaguars for a hunting ranch in the USA. But Wade will find himself face to face with the woman who stirred something deep within his heart-Maya Anderson-another jaguar shifter who hopes to reconnect with Wade for a few days of hot passionate sex without any ties.

The writing style is simple and the plot predictable. This is a story about a special forces shifter unit hoping to stop the illegal poaching of big game cats, but will all too soon find themselves the hunted as well as the hunter. The environmental issues of endangered species is an integral part of the storyline with issues pertaining to illegal poaching, importing and the sale of wild animals to collectors and hunters.

The storyline takes place between Belize and the USA where Terry Spear takes the reader on a journey through the underbrush and jungles of two different continents. The flow and pacing are steady; there are several chase and actions scenes culminating in retribution and revenge; as well as the push and pull of sexual attraction. And like the animals of the wild, our leading couple know what it is they want from each other.

If on the "prowl" for a great book to read then look no further. Second one to this series but great also by itself. Two of the brothers-Wade and David are on a case sitting in a nightclub and who should walk in but Maya whom just a month ago watched over when she was with her brother Conner(whom Wade did not know of the relationship being as such) and Kat until they were safe. Having been sheltered most of her life she has learned they have some cousins and she is there to meet them, also maybe even have a good time without her brother being any the wiser. They meet up and the adventure rockets off from there. Undercover on a task force places them in danger and hunting for the bad guys is oh so good for Maya when in the his arms whenever possible with a hunk of a shifter like Wade is makes it all the more bearable.Team up with these good cats joined by a few more on what could be a hunt to save lives-could even come down to being their own. filled with lots of danger and steamy romance paired together team that up with a great story it is in and this book will satisfy anyone looking for a read that is hard to put down.

Jaguar Fever is a sexy, sizzling shifter story.

Maya Anderson has recently discovered that her and her brother are not alone. For a long time they believed themselves to be the only jaguar shifters left.

Wade Patterson is the ultimate shifter special forces. Protecting shifters and their way of life. Now he has his sights on Maya. When Maya decides to adventure out to a shifter bar, Wade's possessive feelings jump to the forefront. Knowing Maya needs more time to accept her new knowledge of the shifter community is one thing, watching the other shifters buzz around her like bees is another.

When Maya gets into some hot water with poachers, Wade pulls out all the stops to keep Maya safe.

This is a wonderfully steamy romance and an action packed adventure with shifters while Spear's sneaks in an enviromental twist. The sexual tension and interaction is blush worthy. Spear's descriptive writing makes you feel like you are running through the jungles of Belize right along with the jaguars. Another must read from Terry Spear, Jaguar Fever will get your temperature rising.
