Gr. 5-7. Books in the Ultimate Cars series are structurally similar. Each one begins with a brief history of the manufacturer. In Jaguar , for instance, McKenna traces the firm's evolution from a company that made motorcycle sidecars in 1921 to the first car called a Jaguar in 1935 to the latest model, introduced in 1996. A two-page section in Lamborghini profiles company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini. A chapter on the making of a sports car is followed by a historical look at models the company has produced up to the present. While readers may be disappointed to find some identical sentences in the two books, the series does provide color pictures of prominent sports cars as well as information about the companies that have made them. A glossary and a list of Internet sites are appended. Check the Series Roundup in this issue for other titles in the series. Carolyn Phelan
