Book Description

The expanding Aztec capital grew unhappy under the stern rule of their Tepanec overlords. Having tried every political trick, Acamapichtli, a wise and vigorous ruler of the Aztecs, saw his chance when the delegation of the elite Tepanec warriors arrived at his island-city to enlist a force of the Aztec warriors. Intrigued with the leader of the delegation, an older but still wild, reckless, and very resourceful Atolli, the Emperor seizes his chance, gambling in a strange way for a long-term future.

Meanwhile, Atolli arrived at the Aztec Capital with more on his mind than a mundane mission. Determined to face his own demons, to resolve issues from his past, he gets into more trouble than he could have foreseen, changing the history of the entire region along the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING THIRD NOVEL OF THE SERIES! April 21, 2012
By readitz
Format:Kindle Edition
I've read the first and second of this series and the third is no less gripping. Just as in the second of the series, this third book, The Jaguar Warrior, brings back familiar characters from the last book, and it is oh so full, full, full, of surprises. This series has twists and turns, and there is never a dull moment. I am now awaiting the forth of this series and though I don't think the authors fingers could ever type fast enough for me, I'm really really hoping that history will not play out too fast in this series. I'd gladly read a dozen more novels filled with the world of these characters and situations. This is a fascinating storyline and very well written. No matter what genre you read, this series will not disappoint. There's excitement, suspense, it's laden with historical facts, and there's even a bit of romance in this series. I'm hooked. This author's got a follower for life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Character Development Throughout the Series May 29, 2012
By OpusMom
Format:Kindle Edition
I've enjoyed reading all of Zoe's books. The character development has been great throughout all three books. I don't read a lot of fiction, nonfiction is where I spend most of my time. However, I feel like I'm getting to know about Columbia in a fun and artful way. This book (and the two previous ones in the series) are definitely worth your time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting historical saga with romance thrown in April 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed reading this entire trilogy. I found The history of Pre-Aztec Mexico to be very good reading. The characters are interesting and well drawn. These were what I call "page turners" . I could hardly wait to see what would happen next. This is a compelling story of the power of human love,no matter what the era. Some of the battle scenes are pretty blood thirsty, but I still enjoyed reading this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars pre aztec and then the aztec series by zoe saadia January 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
if you like historical fiction ( i do) you will really enjoy this whole series. i just finished the last book and i really wish there were more. i enjoyed every one. not heavy reading but pretty accurate facts (as far as we know) about a civilization that was incredibly advanced. unfortunately the spanish destroyed most of the written works. these people wrote poetry, practiced engineering and used many art forms.

As soon as I fined book 1 I purchased book 2 and was not disappointed. This was a quick and easy read. Book 1 needs to be read so you will understand the relationship between the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars an education in pre-Columbian America August 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Finally a well written and obviously well researched historical fiction novel on native American historey. History buffs have always been able to read about knights in shining armor but very little has been written using the native American pre-Columbian cultures. Zoe Saadia has ventured into a "new" area and has done an excellent job. Informative as well as entertaining.

More About the Author

Zoe Saadia is the author of several novels of pre-Columbian Americas.

Having researched various pre-contact cultures of this continent for more than a decade, she is convinced that it's a shame that such a large part of history was completely overlooked, by historical fiction most of all.

Both Americas has an extremely rich, diverse, fascinating history long before this continent was discovered by other civilizations.
So her professional motto is set. America has not been discovered by other continents, not yet. Not in her novels :)
