First thing to note is that this "derailleur" cable housing has brake housing instead of regular compressionless housing. While it's okay to run a derailleur cable in brake housing it would have been nice to have known it was brake housing.

That said the cable and housing work okay on my bike.

This derailleur cable comes with brake cable housing. If you have an index shifter (one that clicks), then this is wrong type of cable housing. Don't buy it unless you're sure it will work with your shifter.
