A couple of overlooked gems from the mid "80s,
By A Customer
This review is from: In the Jail House / Brand on My Heart (Audio CD)
These two albums, thoughtfully compiled on a single CD by the good folks at DCC, represent the country reprobate Willie in fine form, recording with two of his idols and forebears. "In the Jailhouse Now" with Webb Pierce is the slightly stronger of the two albums, boasting a fine duet remake of the title tune and many other honky-tonk highlights. "Brand on my Heart" with Hank Snow is decidedly more old-school country-oriented. Both albums, out of print for years, feature fine remastered sound courtesy of ace archivist Steve Hoffman. Hopefully, DCC will soon reissue the other two duet albums Willie recorded during this period, including one with Faron Young.

Three Country Greats,

This review is from: In the Jail House / Brand on My Heart (Audio CD)
Seems that just about everyone has recorded a duet with Willie Nelson, but few match the beauty of the duets he made with Webb Pierce and Hank Snow. All three of these men are fine real country singers who know how to present a song with sincerity and who also have a fine appreciation of talented others. The listener will not only hear great renditions of these songs, but also the respect these interpreters of song have for each other. These aren't hokey duets, these are the real thing.

for me this was a real treat....
i'm a fan of all three, and to hear them together was incredible. the recordings were great and to me it honestly shows where willie got alot of his influence, the true western side of texas swing. i've owned the on vynl years ago. but it was nice to hear 'em on c.d. i love it and recomend it to all fans of either......tommyg

The Legends, Nelson, Pierce, and Snow,

Willie Nelson, Webb Pierce pair up to make this legendary album, In The Jailhouse Now, - the original song from the singing yodeling brakeman, the 1920's - 30's first country superstar, Jimmie Rodgers. The album starts with, "There Stands The Glass", "Wondering", and "I Don't Care", mostly the old honky tonk Webb Pierce songs, rolling continuously with Jimmy Day on steel guitar. The collaboration of Nelson and Pierce make this album worthy of being an all time country music classic. - worth the price of admission alone. The second album on this DCC Sony remastered cd, is the team of Willie Nelson and Hank Snow, Brand On My Heart, featuring the Snow hits, "I've Been Everywhere", "Golden Rocket", "I'm Movin'On", and "I Don't Hurt Anymore". Not only is Willie Nelson a fine guitar player, the singing ranger - Hank Snow, can also pick a note or two, as Nelson and Snow trade off lead, complimenting one another song after song... this cd is out of print, a seller from Amazon may have a deal at a good price. The Faron Young and Webb Pierce recordings are the best with Willie.
