Confession: I bought this within a few minutes of learning of it's existence. I think that reaction is fairly typical. It's definitely one of those items with a certain guaranteed "pre-sold" audience. I knew what I was getting, and as it was an impulse buy for sure, I wilfully brushed aside the number one issue that exists with this toy. It's an issue which will probably grow on you -- or come back to haunt you time and again -- the longer you have it.

The issue is the matter of likeness. The little guy is really hurting in that department. I don't know who they had sculpt this, but I have to venture that he was no name in the business. The figure merely "checks the box" in the most perfunctory manner by being male, recognizably dark-complected and wearing a suit. As a caricature of Barack Obama, it utterly fails. That's pretty harsh, but let's be honest: If the box didn't say "OBAMA, An Action Figure You Can Believe In", you could believe it was just about anybody else.

I don't want to plug any competing item too hard, but I'll just share this pertinent experience with prospective buyers of this product: Later the same day I ordered this, a friend who reads all the animation blogs pointed out to me that the creator of Ren and Stimpy has his own set of political caricatures coming out in a few weeks. THAT'S where I should have put my political figurine dollar. These figures aren't timid, generic, ersatz likenesses of the candidates, but sharp, savage, funny political caricature in the grand tradition.

This is the after thought figure that I'll set out at work, probably keeping it in the box so people know who it is supposed to be. The "conversation piece" factor is there, which may be all many people expect from something like this. But even given that this may have been rushed out by the toy company, I wish they had nailed a relishable caricature. Bottom line, I believe a funny likeness here would prompt a smile that would last; what we get instead is a brief chuckle at the simple fact that someone came up with the concept for a political candidate action figure.

Bought this just to display in class (I teach Civics) students really liked it. Went great with my talking George Bush and other classroom flare

Built well and unique, most items you find are cheaply made. This one is toy action figure quality.
As far as Obama look alike, Its a toy, I am not sure why some said it didn't look like him, its easy to see it is him. Take a look at the ear alone and you know its him.

I will be honest I am not a huge Obama supporter. Its his policies. He is just way too liberal for me. But just like every president before him, as a voter I would never get the opportunity to ask him specific questions about his policies nor give him the solutions needed to succeed in his position. You see just cause I didn't vote for the guy doesn't mean I don't wish him the best. I love america! So since getting close to the president was a "no no" I decided to look for a product that would allow me to get closer to the mindset of our beloved president and thats were the "Jailbreak Toys Barrack Obama Action Figure" comes in. First off its sent in a great box with some really high grade packaging. The art work really makes the doll shine through. It comes ready to be displayed for all your guests to see. Another great thing about the figure is that he isn't the full size of our president. I was worried about that as my studio apartment is really only meant for one. And since the voices in my head sounded like our president, having this action figure in my home would allow me to put a visual on these voices. This way I could tell my therapist that I was actually speaking to a person, our president! The fact that he is not actual size means that during those discussions that get heated I never get intimidated by his presence, the doll is really only 6" high. My therapist says that is a good thing since I have a fear of larger people. Every time I am on the bus, speaking to Pres. Obama, I have the Jailbreak Toy Company to thank for that. I remind the people around me on the bus every day of that fact!

Thank you Jailbreak Toys, because of your product, me and President Obama are correcting the worlds wrongs while fixing the economy, managing health care, derailing Iran from obtaining a nuke, bringing peace to the Caucasus, enjoying great relations with Georgia, making our own NCAA Final Four brackets, bringing Green Energy properly, creating jobs, picking the next supreme court justice and smoking a cigarette...

I just received this item and it was just ok! Not only does it not look like him but, if not for the picture on the box would not have known this was him. I also discovered that as I went back to look at the product again it is now on sale for a lower price 2 days after I ordered it. Still a good toy, will keep as keepsake. Next time please commission a better toy maker who will get the likeness correct of the character being made. I am originally from Chicago and really wanted to see our (hometown) president represented well. On a brighter note shipment, timing and packaging were excellent.

Loved it! Gave it to one of my favorite republican friends for Christmas! LOL

Great addition to an obama collection. I love the quality of the merchandise. I keep it in the box and placed it next to my other obama action figures. I would definitely purchase it again.

I received this for Christmas. It is very entertaining to play with/look at(yes, I play with my toys). Anyway, I must confess, it doesn't look very much like him. It's got a few facial qualities that are similar, such as the ears and the lips. His head seems to be a bit too big in proportion to the rest of the body, and his legs are not quite long enough. However, I think that those two 'problems' add a certain likeness to the toy.

His head can turn and is loose enough that it can turn with ease, but firm enough that you know it isn't going anywhere. His arms, however, are very, very loose. I will probably be tightening the joints(by the way, if you have figures that need their joints tightened, look online for some good tips).

Overall, a good gift, a nice piece of merchandise, and a great product.

This is a really well-made action toy. I received it shortly after placing the order. Good vendor, good product.

My children are all grown so I purchased one for each of them to remember the wonderful era in which they live. They loved it, too!
