4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful.
This game sort of came to a stand still for my daughter as she couldn't figure out certain things and how to get past certain areas. Very frustrating for her. But this book has opened up the game for her and allowed her to be able to go further in the game. If strategy books are used as my daughter uses them (to help break through the part she is unable to figure out)...

2.0 out of 5 stars Confusing. Not worth the money.
I bought this guide because I thought it'll help with the game. However, I received a very short magazine-like book which had very short description of what to do. It does mention what to do, but left out a lot of description. It went from one thing to the other without filling in the gap in between the two different subjects. I bought this guide because I thought it'll help with the game. However, I received a very short magazine-like book which had very short description of what to do. It does mention what to do, but left out a lot of description. It went from one thing to the other without filling in the gap in between the two different subjects. Overall, this guide left me searching all over the place and I've had to figure out most of the things by myself with the little clues the guide had to offer. Sure there are a few nice pictures to look and it slightly helpful but very very short description, but I wouldn't suggest purchasing this guide if you aren't very experienced with this game (like me). Its probably better to look for a walkthrough on the internet, even though it may be a little less convenient .

1.0 out of 5 stars Where are the maps?, January 6, 2002
This review is from: Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy: Prima's Official Strategy Guide (Paperback)
I recently purchased Prima's Official strategy guide for Jak and Daxter. I am extremely disappointed. For some reason unfathomable to me, the person putting together this book decided to leave out maps. Most people who use strategy guides just use the maps so if they get lost they can have some help getting unlost. They want to figure out the game for themselves. Instead of having helpful hints for when you get lost this book just includes step by step instructions. I might as well be reading a book on step by step instructions for setting a VCR, it would be just as much fun. It's not worth the price for a book that doesn't help anyone have fun.

1.0 out of 5 stars Low Quality - could be better., January 19, 2002

Very disappointed in this guide because it uses low quailty paper instead of the high quaility glossy paper that produces clean, sharp photos of the game screens. Photos are low quality and many are useless because its hard to tell what is what. Also, there are no maps like in the ones in the Spyro series of guides. However, there some good tips in the text section of the guide. Great game but poor manual.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good strategy guide to go with the game..., January 3, 2002

This review is from: Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy: Prima's Official Strategy Guide (Paperback)
This strategy guide is definately helpful in your gaming experience with the best platformer yet on the PS2, but it doesnt seem to be worth forking out 15 dollars. Most of the things are helpful, it shows where all the power cells are located, and how to get them, although some of the directions arent descriptive enough on where to go. This strategy guide will be good if you are looking for a quick breeze through the game, but its not an impossible game to play without the stategy guide. All of it is colored pages, and has maps of all the islands and lands in the game. It does its job in helping you with the game, but you will only need the guide if you are a beginner at video games or are having troulbe at one point. You may want to go to gamefaqs.com and get an online strategy guide there. Hope i helped!

This book (& game) is awesome. Really helps out if you get stuck in the game. Neat picturs & witty humor in book too. I'd give it 10 stars but they only allow 5 so... :)

2.0 out of 5 stars buy cheap, January 12, 2009
Some guides are really helpful and necessary for finding and collecting everything in a game. This is not one of those guides. You'd expect better from Prima and you'd be disappointed. There are no maps and the discriptions are pretty vague.

Fortunately, this guide can be easily found for under $7.99 at any local used bookstore or used media store.

4.0 out of 5 stars The precursor legacy review, November 29, 2007

This book is an ideal companion to the game. It helps you find all the 100 orbs and including the 101st orb that is usually missed in that mine cart scene near the end. Makes the game easier to play but also reveals spoilers.
