Book Description

"This is Jake.
Jake bakes cakes!
What kind of cakes does Jake bake?
He bakes upside down cakes for acrobats.
And pumpkin cakes for witches and their cats.
He bakes banana cakes for monkey in the tree.
And fish cakes for fishes in the sea . . ."
But what does Jake do when his baking day is done? Why, he throws off his hat, puts up his feet and . . . well you'll find out at the end of this jolly rhyming picture book.
Another children's picture book created especially for the Kindle by Gerald Hawksley, author and illustrator of the bestselling Kindle children's book "If You Have A Hat".

About the Author

I am a children's book author and illustrator and part time astronaut. I like making Kindle books. I live in a small castle beside the River Snood with my chums Lord Treacle, "Mousy" Mousington and Otto Fishblanket. We often go treasure hunting and then come home and have tea and cake, and sometimes, if the weather has been particularly inclement, tea and teacakes.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME BOOK February 23, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I like this book because Jake bakes cakes and such, as well, CAKES! I'd recommend this book to beginner readers. Beginner readers like books like this, so that is why I recommend this book to little kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fun Book From Gerald Hawksley August 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
My kids absolutely love "If I Had A Hat" so I snagged this book up too. Although I don't think it's quite as good it's still a wonderful children's picture book. The rhymes are cute, the writing simple and logical and the artwork is enjoyable. My kids love it! Amazingly you can read the book over and over and not gain an ounce of weight.

5.0 out of 5 stars My children LOVE LOVE LOVE this story April 23, 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
My children LOVE LOVE LOVE this story. My son had all the words memorized when he was three, so he could read it to us. I also read words the opposite sometimes, which they think is hysterical. Example: instead of him baking a cupcake for the winner of the race, I'll say he bakes a bowl cake for the loser of the crawl. They will laugh and correct me. It's a great story with very good illustrations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love the Graphics! October 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love the graphics and the text that goes with the pictures. If you look closely that you can see the publisher and or author have given a guide for who the book should work with - that is helpful and smart.

Young kids learn to read by looking at the pictures first and then "guessing" what the words mean on the page. Great job Gerald and team.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now the kids love to help us mix October 24, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Not only do we read this book at bedtime several times a week, this also got me and the kids interested in baking our own cakes - with inspiration from some of the cakes in this book for cake designs!

Now the kids love to help us mix, bake, and ice cakes for our own consumption.

Silly, funny, with great pictures, and a simple storyline.
