4.0 out of 5 stars Good for Preschool age
My 3 1/2 year old son loves this game. He loves driving the fire truck, blowing out candles, climbing the ladders, and spraying out the fires. He also does well with the Go, Diego, Go games as well. If you are looking for a game for a preschooler, this is a good idea. They also make other Jake Power games, but we haven't tried them yet.

My 5 year old son received this game for Christmas. He loves it! There are a few spots in the game that were a little difficult for him at first but after a few tries he got the hang of them. Quick thinking when opening the valves, climbing ladders and keeping up with flames to make sure the fires get put out. You can unlock new parts for your fire engine and even new engines with the more achievements you get in the game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nintendo DS Jake Power Fireman Review, February 12, 2010

I bought this game for my 5 year old son for Christmas. He tried it once, said he didn't like it and wanted to sell it. HOWEVER....I didn't really think that he gave it a chance, so I sat down with him and I PLAYED the game myself while he watched. And then of course.....he wanted his game back :) I like that this game has different things to do in each mission and that they don't get TOO hard as the game progresses. It is basically doing the same things over and over....driving the firetruck thru traffic (my personal favorite...and probably what intimidated my son a bit), putting out fires, climbing ladders, blowing out candles, stamping out fires, turning the fire hydrant handle the right way. And each time you complete a level, you get different upgrades available for your fire truck ..... sirens, body, bumpers, lights, etc.).

What makes this game good for the 4-6 year old crowd, is that there is no reading involved. Jake shows you pictures of the tasks you will have to accomplish in each mission. And also....here it comes.....NO password saves!!!! When you complete a level, it is automatically saved, so you don't need to write down any passwords!!! YIPPEEEE!!!

The only reason I gave this game a 4 instead of a 5, is because I felt that it was over very quickly. I finished the entire game in about an hour and a half. I think a 4-5 year old who really likes these kind of games would probably finish it in a day to a week depending on how much they were allowed to play. But I know how frustrating it is to find non-reading, non password games that are entertaining and easy enough for that age group....so I give it a 4. My 7 year old daughter has asked to play it next :)
