Unresponsive joystick ruins the game,

I was a big Pac-Man fan growing up (and still am, I guess), so I was very excited about getting this play-at-home version. The graphics, sounds and overall game are exactly as I remember them, definitely not a bad remake. BUT...the joystick, or how it's connected to the software is really aweful. About 1 out of 5 times you press the joystick a certain direction, the game simply doesn't respond. A ghost is coming, so you turn the other way...but Pac-Man just continues to run right into him. It was really maddening, so much so that after spending 10 minutes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, I realized it's just not made well. I think this is a cute "retro" gag gift, but not really made for anyone who really wants to play the game or hopes to get beyond level one, due to a poorly engineered controller.

Maybe it was my imagination, but when I played PACMAN on here, it seemed better than the original PACMAN joystick. Just seemed sharper and the joystick has great response.
I enjoyed playing PACMAN Plus as it is edgier than regular PACMAN. Eating "fruit" also causes the Ghost monsters to go blue, but they vanish the first few seconds making eating them all the more challenging. Sometimes the random Ghostmonster will NOT turn blue when you eat an energizer. In short, it is unpredictable and makes the replay value pretty high. Pac-n-Pal, is a bit more odd ball. When you energize you push the button to shoot a beam at the ghostmonsters. Plus there is a 5th ghostmonster "pal" who steals your fruit, but can't kill you. Eat the fruit before he carries it into the center box. Of course, if you are a fan of Super PACMAN, this game rendition is as close as you will get. Remember, TV screens do not have the same aspect ratio or resolution of an arcade monitor, so try not to gripe over the graphics. The game play is there, and that is what matters. I never got the feeling this was another weak remake, but felt it was of better quality. For some reason, my joystick only has one button. Very well worth the money for Super PACMAN and PACMAN Plus, alone.
