5.0 out of 5 stars Cajun Cooking 101
My Neighbor is orginally from Pierre Part Louisiana (In the heart of Cajun country) & she is such a good cook, I asked her which book would be best for REAL Cajun style food and she suggested this one. I have not been disappointed yet... My gumbo taste as good as hers now!

3.0 out of 5 stars Son Of A Gun, Gonna Have Big Fun On The Bayou
This book is chock full of recipes for all the cajun and creole classics. It's a good choice for those who are able to follow an ingredient list and step by step instructions. It may not be the right choice for those who need color photos to show what the food should look like. It's well worth the price for the recipes but don't expect photos of the food. I can't wait...

5.0 out of 5 stars Reasons why I like this Book..., October 17, 2000
By

1)The most popular Cajun dishes are in the front of the book. Classics like 'Seafood Gumbo,' 'Jambalaya,' and 'Shrimp Creole.' It saves me time & frustration. 2)It is informative. Besides the good food it shares with the reader many interesting facts about the Cajuns & their 'Joy of Life.' 3)It is reasonably priced for all you get. 4)The Author's personality shines through in each recipe. 5)I love New Orleans!

I first discovered this book while on vacation at Mardi Gras, it has 7 different recipes for Gumbo, humorous Cajun Poetry & a wealth of historical information. Personally I liked the Shrimp Creole, The Zydeco Chicken & The Mardi Gras King Cake Best; Great Choice!

5.0 out of 5 stars As Good As It Gets, September 6, 2000
It just doesn't get any better than this, here's a wonderful book that captures the French Quarter and the Big Easy at its absolute best. If you think cookbooks are old news & that it's all been said & done before, dare to be proven wrong by this fantastic book, it is well written by a very knowledgeable chef! Emeril look out, Todd St. Pierre (A native of South Louisiana and a real Cajun) is a talent to be reckoned with!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Step In The Right Direction, October 7, 2000
By
Kyle Sutton (La Place, Louisiana) - See all my reviews
If you really want to learn to cook like the Cajuns do in south Louisiana, this book is a good place to start. Yankees, Midwesterners & other non-Cajuns may want to adjust the hot spices accordingly! This book is both funny and easy to follow!

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, November 4, 2001
Love this book. The One Jambalaya recipe that calls for sugar, sounds like a strange idea at first but it is truly delicious. Mr. St. Pierre writes and develops recipes for the top cooking magazines in the country and he has a unique yet wonderful way of experimenting and improving many dishes. The poetry is very insightful, giving the reader a glimpse into the Cajun world! I look forward to his new book "Mari Gras Cuisine" due out in 2002!
