Color me surprised...,
By P.J. Humble "PJH" (Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jambodia (Audio CD)
This music has serious energy! I seldom give newer artists a chance (I'm cheap that way), but a friend referred this cd to me. It's not the tired, everyday stuff - and I like that. I'm hoping there's a follow up.

Dynamic, high energy music!,
By Jane L. (Miami, FL USA) - See all my reviews

This new artist has created a collection of instrumental music that is amazing! This unique blend of rhythms is certain to keep you energized. I especially enjoyed the wide variety of music instruments used on these tracks. From the haunting melodies of Cahokian Sun and Zambodian Passport to the soothing notes of the title track, Jambodia, this music is inspiring. The songs evoke visions and memories of far away places. In my view, the best tracks are Chichen Itza Brew, Cahokian Sun and Zambodian Passport. As the song titles suggest, this variety of melodies represents a truly global, worldview of music. This CD will appeal to a wide variety of ages and interests.

Upbeat, Imaginative and Very Cool!,
By George Richards "Curious Collector" (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Jambodia (Audio CD)
This CD is extremely cool and has quite a unique personality to it. Great energy, very upbeat and imaginative. Not only was I impressed by the marvelous blend of musical genres but the production values are `top end' for sure. The clarity of instruments, 'spot on' tempos, subtle cultural expression, all balanced with some amazingly deep bass passages . . . well like I said in the beginning, it is extremely cool!
The really interesting part of this CD is that on many tracks the drums actually carry the melody, I love it! You'll want to listen to this again, and again, and again.

good listening...,

An excellent and unconventional blend of music using a variety of different sounds from many different cultures. Most tracks have a really nice tempo-- lively and yet somehow relaxing. Recommended.

I've really enjoyed the music from Dr. Zuko. it's original and refreshing. One word of advise, listen to it on a good stereo or headset. I originally listened to it on my PC and later at home on my stereo. The effect was like comparing night to day.

A Definite Favorite,
By Divit (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews

I must admit that I was a bit skeptical with straight five star reviews on Jambodia, but I do have to say Dr. Von Zuko earns them. The melodies are energizing and evocative and definitively carries an upbeat, take on the world mood. The techno-electronica flavoring on certain tracks (while very cool), almost has too much attitude for me, but none the less, I think this is a great CD and is destined to be a favorite of mine. I especially like Nan Madol, Senegal Tea, and Chichen Itza Brew. Track 8, Cahokia Sun is outstanding! So, overall I have to give the CD a five rating too! I'll be looking for more tunes from Von Zuko. I'd call his work Techno-pop, New Age crossover.

I sampled the download, thought is was hot! Checked out the CD and was sucked deep into the world of Jambodia. It really paints a vivid picture in my head, very cool to drive with. Lots of tracks, nearly an hour I think, and I hear something new every time I listen. A great addition to my collection.

Explorations on the Edge,

I first heard a few tracks at a club in Chicago . . . asked the DJ what it was, then found it here! Certainly it's not for grandma or the fans of sedate (put you to sleep) music. This pushes the boundaries (but is really quite well done) and leverages many of the new technologies that have become so pervasive in our lives. Bottom line, I like it! It's fresh, it's creative, and has a whole lot of positive energy (as many others have pointed out).
