Classic Bond is Back - Thanks to Sean Connery's Return!,

If you are a fan of the "classic" Sean Connery Bond, this game is a MUST--even if you don't normally play video games. "From Russia with Love" puts you in the role of maneuvering Connery's Bond through many realistic and elaborate scenes. Sean is to be congratulated for lending his voice and likeness to this game. He actually adds new nuances to his famous characterization which makes it even more interesting in retrospect. I hope this is just his first in a series of classic Bond games. (EA: Are "Goldfinger" and "Diamonds are Forever" in the future?). The missions are loosely based on the original movie, but most of the missions contain additional new characters, weapons, gadgets, and plot elements. The player gets absorbed in the missions, which for me took numerous attempts to complete. There are three levels of difficulty that can be chosen to subdue foes before they subdue Bond. In "From Russia with Love," much of the game's fun derives from participating in the Classic Bond world. Buy It-You'll be glad you did!

The Most Amazing Experience... For a Bond Fan,

The goal of any James Bond game is to make the player feel like he is fulfilling an ultimate fantasy: step into the shoes of Agent 007. "FRWL" comes closer to this goal than any other game, because this time you control the real James Bond. No offense to Pierce Brosnan, who made a fantastic Bond and loaned his voice and likeness to "EON", but Sean Connery was the original James Bond, and there will never be anyone who comes close to his level of cool.
I must say at this point, like many others who have reviewed this game, that Sean 70 year old voice doesn't fit his 30 year old image on screen, and this takes some getting used to, but it's certainly worth it. He makes lines like "Bond... James Bond" and "Shaken, not stirred" into a big deal again. But controlling Sir Sean as he takes on the evil organization known as OCTOPUS is, as Bond said in "Octopussy", "only the tip of the tentacle." The awesomeness of the game begins with the opening gun barrel. It's the original gun barrel from the movies. Then you take on first mission, rescuing the Prime Minister's hottie blonde daughter from terrorists at Parliament, and everything from the cars to the clothes is perfectly retro. The world of the game is truly the world of the original James Bond, right down to the classic rock-n-roll rendition of the James Bond theme that finally plays during a key moment late in the game, as Bond infiltrates a secret factory. After the game's opening, the plot faithfully follows the plot of the movie "FRWL." James Bond is sent to Turkey to retrieve a Lektor device from a Russian cipher clerk who claims she has a crush on him. In Turkey, Bond teams up with lovable sidekick Kerim Bey. Bond must retrieve the device, protect the damsel in distress, and get both safely back to London. Bond screenwriter Bruce Feirstein worked on the script, and he's done a good job of making the game the same but different to the movie. The characters from the movie are all recreated well, but some are better than others. The impersonators voicing villains Rosa Klebb and Red Grant are uncanny. And there's a moment early on in the game where you interact with a Miss Moneypenny, M, and Q who all look and behave as they did in the original Sean Connery 007 movies. What puts this game miles ahead of the other Bond games, besides Sir Sean's voice and likeness, is two notable features in the game play. One is Bond focus. While you can dispatch villains simply by locking onto them with one button and killing them with the other, an additional button push will allow you to zoom in closer on a target and choose between spots Bond would shoot at, such as a grenade attached to a belt that will dispatch an enemy and a few of his friend or a rappel cord that will cause a suspended enemy to plunge to his death. The other notable feature is the stealth and mêlée kills. When you're in close enough range, just hit a button to beat down an enemy with the raw brutality that only Sean Connery's James Bond displayed. Sean Connery's Bond relied mostly on his raw wit and talent, so you only have a few gadgets, but they're good ones. The Q-copter is a remote control helicopter that can self-destruct and explore areas Bond can't reach, like the Q-spider in "EON", only better. The classic laser watch is useful, not just for getting into sealed rooms, but dispatching enemies when you have no other weapon available. Sonic cuff links and a serum gun are the most fun to play around with, but you must experience them for yourself. Besides the gadgets, you can go dress Bond up in a number of retro costumes found during the game, including the gray suit from the movie, the standard black tuxedo, a retro stealth suit, and that classic white tuxedo, all which look exactly like they did when Sir Sean wore them in the movies. When you drive in the game, you drive the Aston Martin DB5 straight out of "Goldfinger." It can't turn invisible, but it has a gadget for popping tires like in the movie. And when you're not flying down the streets of Istanbul in the "Goldinger" car, you can fly through the air in the "Thunderball" jet pack. Then there's the multi-player. Of course, it has to be compared to the standard of the "GoldenEye" game, and it fails. Also, you can only play Bond villains rather than Bond himself or the other heroes of the game. But the multi-player is amusing, and a decent bonus since the awesomeness of the single player campaign alone makes the game worth playing. The basic game does have other flaws. Some of the movie's most exciting moments, particularly the gypsy camp shootout, Bond's brawl with Red Grant on the Orient Express, and a confrontation between Bond and Rosa Klebb's bladed shoe, aren't done justice in game form. And the game is a fast play, even on the hardest difficulty. But overall, this game is the best James Bond experience so far.

This is what I think: I have the game myself and it's awesome! The car missions are the best. But, when you're manning a jetpack, it's very hard to manuever around. I really like this game, and if you enjoy all day button-mashing, then get this game. That's what I think.

I have the bond games Agent under Fire and Night Fire, and this game blows them both away. From Russia with Love is the first bond game based on a movie. Graphics are great! This game has plenty to do, with extra footage on how producers created the game! There is plenty to unlock, and many missions and goals in three different difficulty levels. Also, It's not only a shooting game, but a little bit of adventure and action is also mixed in. The game is third person, which is different from most bond games, but still delivers the whole package of fun and exitment. Anyone can enjoy it, especially a James Bond fan. 5 stars!

Ok, so I have never beaten any other James bond game (nor have I beaten this one yet,,,got it yesterday) but that is because I don't own any others. However, from teh first two levels, I can tell this game is fun. The levels are cool, and no, the 3rd person shooting is fine, that guy just doesn't know what he's talking about. I happen to like that you not just running aroun shooting everything in sight. There is a bit of strategy. However, I have gotten myself into one of those jams before, where you panick and shoot everything, even the bushes and walls. And then I usually die.
But the best part about this game is the sneak attacks, kind of like splinter cell, but better. Not only can you crack their necks, (it's not gory, if that's what ur worried about), but there is a feature called bond focus. THIS IS COOL. I'm not sure if any other bond games do this, or any other game for that matter. But in this game, if you press the lock on button, and then the b button, you can aim at their body where ever you want, and it's not even a sniper gun. So basically, you sneak up, press against a wall, look around it at the guys patroling the grounds, (their pretty stupid, but it's still hard) do the bond aim, and vua-la, shoot them in the head. I probably shouldn't say this, but it's acctually kinda funny. Well enough of this bad writing, you may now go back to reading better written reveiws, or maybe, this IS the best! :) thx

This game was really really really fun. I am a sean connery nut and absolutely love his flicks. Also a large james bond fan. I Really liked the effort they put in the side-storyline. They added things in that made sense in the time and place the original movie was in. The Voice stand ins for the other characters are fantastic. The re-playability factor is quite large. For example certain levels have hidden roots with large amounts of loot in them. some are very well hidden at that. The unlock-able interviews with sean connery and interviews with dev's was a really neat idea I wish more games would use. The gadgets were kind of a surprise for me due to the fact in the movie they really didn't use any weapons. it feels a bit silly hearing 75 year old sean connery voice his 30 something year old self but after awhile you get used to it. It's a short game but the re-playability factor adds alot. However. The gamecube controller is not so great for it in my opinion. I personally bought a PS2 To Wii Adapter so I could use my PS2 controller with the game and it works great. (If anyones interested in that product comment.) The graphics are semi-good. But honestly the characters are the best looking part of the game and thats were it really matters. If your looking for a game to really immerse you in 1960's bond look no further.

This game is a lot of fun! It's a lot like the game Everything or Nothing. If you haven't played it, go get that one and then pick up this one! If you love Connery, you'll love this! Oh and it's fun too!

I recently dusted off my Gamecube out of love for Zelda. I thought I should get some other titles too since like Xbox and other systems its fun to go back and play on older systems. I bought this game for 3 bucks on the market place, it was well worth my measly 3 bucks. The game is fun, although not open enough to enjoy fully. You have to stay on course with the board, you can't sneak around and deviate your path which I think is a flaw. It's like objective...a-b and no way of deviating the manner by which it is done. Side missions in this game are "searching file cabnets" hardly the kind of side missions that are any fun. Having Sean 'I'll take the rapist for 400 Alex" Connery is a plus but there isn't any brain matter you need to play this so its just a perk, just remembering where the bombs are or what route to take. Some of the gameplay is fun, like taking down the helicopter with a bazooka, and some like any of the driving levels are annoying. I would buy for the co player "007 Goldeneye" style battling but nothing close to the original proce would I pay for this.

Being a die hard fan of the bond series, starting with the classic golden eye game of course, I couldn't wait to finally play this installment with none other than Sean Connery coming back to rein in a rather dismal display of bond in the past several bond games. With excitement, yet not wanting to get my hopes up due to the last few bond games, I tore into the game and let me tell you it does not disappoint. Once you get used to the third person style of the game and the sometimes finger bashing game play, one can really sink their teeth in and have a good ole time kicking butt. The biggest setback is the fact the game is not long enough and sometimes a bit too easy.
