I am an oldschool gamer and played the original Goldeneye on Nintendo 64. The new version loosely follows the old story line, but it seemed to cut out quite a bit of the fun. There wasn't nearly the same weapons available. I always liked using the magnum revolver and Golden Gun in the 64 version, and those are a few of the weapons not in the game. The controls seemed awkward. You have to use the stylus like a mouse, which controls where you look, weapons selection and reloading. Some of the levels were challenging but I was about to complete the game in about a week, playing around an hour per game. I do like the frequent checkpoint saves, so if you get killed you can pick up from the last checkpoint, which is never too far back in the game. The dialogue and storyline was really weak, even though it was based on the movie, it was pretty lame. The characters really had very little to say and you mostly followed instructions from someone in British Secret Service. It was a nice try, but I really miss the N64 version and was hoping it would have been more like it. N64 Goldeneye was a long, challenging, and truly classic game!

I recently bought this from the clearance bin for $10 (New) just because I was a fan of the original Goldeneye for N64 and wanted to see what this remake had to offer. First, the graphics seemed pretty decent but could've been better... the controls took me awhile to get used to but after the first stage, I was moving around like I was playing in my ps3 (Note: I'm playing this on my 3DS so the thumb stick is brilliant for FPS). The stealth elements of the game took me by surprise. It really is an improvement over it's predecessor :D. The sounds were average but the music is epic... lol. It also has Judi Dench and Daniel Craig to do the voice acting... sweet! It took me about 6 hours to beat the game in Agent (medium difficulty) and it unlocked Time Trials (unbelievably challenging)and Cheats. I have yet to try the multiplayer portion but I'm pretty sure it's awesome. I highly recommend this game for anyone looking for a handheld first person shooter. It's fast, fun, and has high replay value with all the unlockables. For parents who look into ratings, the game has no blood and no foul language ;).
