4.0 out of 5 stars Same as Collection 1-3 + QoS
This collection is the same as the James Bond Blu-Ray Collections 1,2, and 3. The only exception is that they've thrown Quantum of Solace in as well (Quantum, License to Kill and Man with the Golden Gun were in a BestBuy exclusive pack). Overall, unless you can find really good deals on the original collections, this is a great buy (collections were originally $60-80, now...

2.0 out of 5 stars more expensive than seperates
Why does this cost $160 when Amazon lists set 1 at $42.99, set 2 at $42.99 and set 3 at $31.99 plus Quantum for $21.99....total $139.96 ! a full $20 cheaper than this set and all the movies are exactly the same!!! What gives??

This collection is the same as the James Bond Blu-Ray Collections 1,2, and 3. Overall, unless you can find really good deals on the original collections, this is a great buy (collections were originally $60-80, now $43).

Having owned the collections, I can say that the level of quality on these Blu-rays are superb. The footage contains no graininess you might expect from movies 40+ years old. If your a Bond fan, this set (assuming you don't already own the collections) is worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Movies, Great Packaging!, December 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: James Bond 10-Pack [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Just to confirm comments provided by another reviewer, this set includes all ten movies in individual blu-ray cases. In fact, some of the original tape on the top of the blu-ray cases was still attached, as if Amazon had opened the movies (or used previously opened movies) and simply repackaged them. I inspected all of the movies though and did not notice any scratches or finger prints, so believe them to be new. The cardboard box is simply used to house them, but can be discarded. This packaging is much nicer and more protective of the discs than that of the 3 disc sets. Those sets have silly foam inserts stuck to cardboard sleeves, which are supposed to keep the discs secured; however, the foam is attached with a weak adhesive, making the discs prone to harm if they become dislodged during transport or frequent use.

As for the movies themselves, the PQ and AQ are phenomenal. I own the Ultimate DVD set and did a quick comparison on my Panasonic 50V10. The blu-rays are noticeably crisper with significantly more detail apparent. The Lowry restoration and resolution available with blu-ray have allowed these movies to age very well. I am happy about upgrading and will be posting my DVDs on Ebay soon. Hopefully, I'll be able to replace the rest of the films in the near future. Highly recommended for any Bond fan!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great packaging, Great movies, Great transfers., December 1, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: James Bond 10-Pack [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
These are the same discs and packaging that you would buy individually, just with an extra cardboard case to keep them together. No digipaks or foam spindle holder here. Each one comes in its own normal blu-ray case. If you add more to your collection you can ditch the outer cardboard case and everything will match. As for the movies, look up the individual reviews for each title, but MGM has done a terrific job with them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant transfer quality, December 19, 2009
This review is from: James Bond 10-Pack [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Nothing is more disappointing than ordering one of your all time favorite movies on Blue-Ray expecting a top-notch movie experience only to discover that the digital transfer was poorly done (Patten for example). Happily, this set of Jame Bond films are how transfers should be done. Crisp, clean images with rich detail that makes watching these great movies even more of a pleasure. Each of these films is a 9-10/10 in transfer quality. For a serious Bond fan, there are a must.

The packaging is also great with individual blue-ray cases for each film. They will perfectly match any other set you purchase (and hopefully any Bond movies to come out in the future).

This is the way Bond is supposed to be seen. Awesome and highly recommended to all.

4.0 out of 5 stars great James Bond set, March 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: James Bond 10-Pack [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I bought this as a present for my husband which made him very happy. I debated over which set to choose but this one had the best movie options to my way of thinking. Although this box set did not include all the movies I wanted, it was good enough.

Each movie has its own case, just as if you had purchased it as a regular movie and not part of a set. I don't always like the way box sets are packaged (like Rome: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]) but it's a trade off for saving lots of shelf space. This box set doesn't really save any space. I would have liked it if they kept the individual cases but thinner ones would have been optimal and rated 5 stars in my book.

The blu-ray movies in this set are outstanding! It really does make for a different viewing experience. I highly recommend this set over others for the movies included if you are looking to purchase just one set. Is this set worth the high price? Yes, if you are an avid James Bond fan. I purchased them around the holidays at a bargain but you could wait for a better price for this set or purchase smaller sets at a cheaper price. Personally, I like having all my James Bond movies in one box set but since that is not yet an option, I am happy with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, February 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: James Bond 10-Pack [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
The set I bought was a fraction of the cost for what it goes for retail so on just those merits alone it was an amazing deal. Plus...I get 10 fantastic films in the Bond series. Picture quality is by far some of the best I have seen for films on the Blue-Ray format that were made 50 years ago. They look almost like they were made today to look like they were made in the 60's. Great set and worth every penny.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classics revamped!, January 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: James Bond 10-Pack [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
You can tell they definitely took their time transfering these great 007s to Blu-Ray! There is no funky elements going on or strange audio quirks that can sometimes appear when really old movies are updated. The video quality is full bore Blu-Ray 1080p and is flawless! If you are looking to see the old Bonds in all their high-def glory these definitely are done right!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, January 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: James Bond 10-Pack [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
If you are a 007 fan this box set is a great value. Not all of the movies will be in stunning Blue ray quality because lets face it many of the films were made in the 70's and 80's however the quality is pretty good and probably the best you will find any where. You might chuckle at some of the "special effects" when compared to today's standards but I still think the Bond films are very entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Compatible with Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray Player Firmware, January 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: James Bond 10-Pack [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
We ordered these blu-ray discs and had trouble getting them to work with our player. So we returned them (thinking we had a bad batch) and the second set didn't work either. We have never had this with a blu-ray disc before with this player.

*** UPDATE ***

After following up with Samsung, it appears the BD-P1500 blu-ray player required a firmware update in order to work with these discs. I followed the directions on Samsung's site, and presto, James Bond in HD!
