5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Collection of James Bond posters!
We are finally given a book that focuses on the art of the James Bond films. With it's extensive size and length, this is one 007 book that is sure to deliver the idea it promises. Every film from Dr. No to The World is Not Enough including Casino Royale and Never Say Never Agin are included. Each film has posters from the USA, UK and many other countries that made...

3.0 out of 5 stars I agree with other reviewers but...
First off, the paper and print is very good. Some of the posters in this book are great, specifically the Sean Connery "From Russia with Love" posters (which there are a lot of). My only issue is really that many of the Bond posters are awful. Specifically the Roger Moore era... The posters are so bad that they are in some cases comical. Overall, there's enough content...

Every film from Dr. No to The World is Not Enough including Casino Royale and Never Say Never Agin are included. The teaser posters fro On Her Majesty's Secret Service are a real treat offering the odd, but truly inspirational 007 and Bride posters. Excitng montage art for many other film posters is included as well. Many films have unique posters for each main character in the film such as The World is Not Enough. A wonderful and new kind of 007 book thats real strength lies in the pictures and not in the text. Great for all that enjoy James Bond!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incomplete, but still a GREAT collection of Bond posters!, March 20, 2002

This review is from: James Bond Movie Posters: The Official 007 Collection (Hardcover)
At last a collection of James Bond posters! While I wouldn't say this book is complete in a check-list sort of way, I do think it's pretty darn impressive. This book owes much to a German publication released in 1997 called LICENSE TO THRILL. In fact, it uses many of the same images and utilized the same basic format. But at least with this book I can read the text (or what there is of it).

The best thing about the book is the concept art for OHMSS, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, and LIVE & LET DIE. The OHMSS concept art is worth the price of the book alone. It shows you not just variant posters, but a whole different approach to marketing the movie. The "007 and Bride" posters are wild and I think this would have made a great campaign. It certainly would have been the most daring and different campaign ever done for a Bond film and I think perfect for this very special movie. For those of you who love montage art, you've got to see the Thai OCTOPUSSY and NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN posters (too bad it doesn't have the Thai A VIEW TO A KILL which is in the German book).

The only disappointment (and this was true of the German book as well) is how little space is devoted to the later films, especially the Dalton films. Paramount is the fact that, even though they make reference to it in the text section for LICENCE TO KILL, there are no examples of the unused and vastly superior LICENCE REVOKED campaign by Robert Peak. This is a glaring omission! Also, where's the standard U.S. one-sheets for NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN and FOR YOUR EYES ONLY? Strange.

But aside from these points, I would say this book is a must for Bond fans, especially if you don't have the German book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Picture of the past, December 2, 2002

It's sad to see how [poorly] the poster art for the Bond films have become in the past decade. But this collection allows you to relish the amazing images and see Bond around the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Collection of James Bond Movie Posters, December 1, 2006
This is a wonderful collection of James Bond Movie Posters. The illustrations and quality of the images are outstanding. They are crisp and sharp and very colorful. This book covers Bond posters from all over the world. The composition of the Japanese posters are quite eye catching and innovative. This is a wonderful and essential book for James Bond enthusiasts.

5.0 out of 5 stars How times have changed...., November 21, 2006
By
I am echoing another reviewer in lamenting the sorry state of movie posters in 2006. The Octopussy campaign from 1983 was simply stunning as the myriad posters in this volume show at least 3-4 different pieces of artwork, each one beautifully painted and in keeping with the Indian theme. The use of Octopussy herself as a Hindu goddess behind Bond was brilliant.

Compare that to the current ad campaign for Casino Royale -- which is virtually indistinguishable from a Gucci billboard. It says nothing about the film, its minimalism ill-conceived and simply lazy. Worse still was the "Die Another Day" poster which was quite simply four layerrs in Photoshop: Pierce and Halle, a background, and the type layer. Moreover a simple type-treatment for the title, nothing like the individualized logotype for a film such as Octopussy. I could go on... This is a gorgeous book.

What an amazing collection of James Bond poster artwork! I ordered this book when I saw it listed on Amazon and I prayed that it would be good, and it turned out to be FABULOUS! The poster art of the Bond movies (especially the earlier ones) is legendary, and this book has taken the most memorable Bond posters and created a fabulous keepsake. I was impressed that so many posters were included, and I especially enjoyed seeing the posters for Bond movies from around the world...it's interesting to see how different countries promote the films. (For example, in France's promo posters for "The World is Not Enough," Sophie Marceau is positioned in front of Pierce Brosnan and Denise Richards, which is different from other versions of the poster.) All in all, this is a wonderful book for Bond fans to add to their collections!

One of the most extensive and brilliantly documented books I have seen and read about the subject. Full marks to Tony Nourmand on his latest publication. Enjoyed it thoroughly and would highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Legendary Collection, February 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an art book - plain and simple.
The paintings are stunning and remind us of a time before pompous TV ads and Internet campaigns - when poster art meant something.

Even though the collection is not complete (that would take several more books) I think it is "the best of..." as well as concept art, which by itself is worth the price of the book.

The book is oversized and the printing if of quality, so you can enjoy the classic posters as well as the more recent ones.

Well worth the money.
