James Madison was an important founding father and President in that he had his hand in many monumental occurrences within the United States. He was responsible for writing much of the constitution, the bill of rights, and the Federalist papers as well as taking part in the Louisiana Purchase. Madison believed in a strong system of checks and balances to keep the United States fair and uncorrupt. The fourth President of the United States is seen here wearing a simple black suit coupled with an elaborate shirt ruffle. His expression is determined yet fair as he casually poses for the portrait.
