Format: Kindle Edition
Everyone who knows TopGear, May's Toy Stories etc. knows what a terrific moderator James May is.

His DVD with the same title is amusing and - yes - informative. May wants to make real men out of us men. He designs sinks out of concrete, he deaktivates an old german bomb, he builds a cinema and and so on... (This DVD is a must-have for every May-fan.)

So his DVD is like a benchmark for his book. Sadly, the book can't reach the high standard of the DVD.

This book is a lifeless and not very funny book for home handymen. How do I repair a toaster or a water tap? What is a hammer? You see, not very absorbing... The few articles with real "thrilling" headlines (haunted houses in Great Britain, how do I bring the football in the goal during a spot kick...) aren't very funny nor very informative.

But although as a guide for handymen you can't use this book. The articles are to short and I doubt you can use this book while repairing your water tap.

James May is imho one of the best tv-moderators. That's his terrain, there he could be funny, there he could show his countless talents. Writing isn't his ability. Therefore this book is one of the countless average books on the market. A middle-rate book out of a high-standard tv-concept.
