5.0 out of 5 stars A Human Hero, June 30, 2008
This review is from: James Patterson, Cross
Alex Cross was DC's go-to guy when they needed insights on serial homicide cases. His insights closed case gaps that put the bad guys behind bars. But when his pregnant wife Maria is gunned down in front of him, Alex can do nothing but get her help. He ends up watching her die in front of him. The image haunts him and disrupts his career. So that he can be there for his kids, Alex quits the FBI, even though he has a promising future in the agency. He starts his own psychiatric practice, letting him choose which cases he'll work. But his past catches up to him while he's profiling cases for the agency. DC's 10-year old serial rapes look more and more the work of a psychopathic killer who has a personal connection with Alex's past. Will his thirst for revenge be his own undoing?

Patterson is a master of peril, but he also fills every page with character. Alex Cross is a human hero, who's first duty is to his family. The plotting is intelligent and unfolds in a drama of life. It reads at such a rapid rate, it gears you up to read the other Alex Cross novels.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Worthy Read, April 16, 2009
This review is from: James Patterson, Cross
My first venture into the Alex Cross library. Great read, and highly entertaining. Ends kind of odd, but i guess in this series there never truly is an ending. Contains great, well developed charcters, I found myself wanting both sides to come out on top.
