5.0 out of 5 stars Very much worth a listen, January 29, 2005

Jamie Cullum could be called a British, male Diana Krall. His style is similar to Diana's, but he takes jazz and adds a pop perspective to it. And for someone so young, this is a venture few would undertake. I think the only exception was Harry Connick, Jr., who was, I think, only 23 when he released his first album. Listening to the opening cut. "These Are the Days", the mood is set for the album. I couldn't turn it off. "Twentysomething" sounds a bit autobiographical. And I played his rendition of "I Get a Kick Out of You" several times; one of the best I've heard. The Dual Disc format was perfect for this album. I listened to the DVD side in full DVD-Audio. The surround mix isexcellent. I'm one of these people who prefers a good surround mix to flat, two-dimensional stereo, and I was not disappointed. In addition to the highresolution audio track, a Dolby Digital surround track is included, as is high resolution stereo. There are also two music videos and a preview of his concert DVD at Blenheim Castle. The CD side of the disc is also very good, but if you have the option to listen to the DVD side in 5.1 surround, do it. You'll be drawn in both by the great sound and Jamie's boyish charm.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Frontin', April 11, 2006

I have known about Jamie Cullum for some time now but just never paid attention to his music. Then someone recommended that I listen to Twentysomething. Boy sometimes i am so slow....

Soemtimes when you hear the first song on a CD, it helps you decide whether you will like the entire album or not. Well "These Are The Days" made me fall in love with the CD and even if every other song on the album was bad, I would still love it. The album just hit the right cord with me.

This album is brilliant. I have now been enrolled in the School of Jamie Cullum. Never to graduate.

The Radiohead and Pharrel covers are brilliant but i just can't get over how great a track "These are the days" is....It wins hands down.

BUY BUY BUY. Do it without hesitation

5.0 out of 5 stars Newest Jazz Star, April 20, 2005
This review is from: Jamie Cullum: Twentysomething (Audio CD)
I just recently discovered Jamie when I saw him on PBS performing at the Newport Jazz Fest. I was so impressed after sampling a few of his tracks I downloaded(legally) the whole album. It was well worth it. This guy is great. You can really tell jazz is really what he was weened on musically. But you can also tell he is a Y-gen. The other commentor said he was like a male british Diana Krull. I describe him as a cross between Harry Connick, Jr. and Brian Setzer. (Harry did his first album, Sountrack to When Harry Met Sally, at 19 and followed up with Twenty when he was 20).

Anyway- Buy this album now- do not hesitate! Support this artist. I want to have more of his albums. Put it in your shopping cart so you don't forget.

Sean-Michael
