Jamie at Home X24 Dumpbin by Jamie Oliver, February 18, 2008
This review is from: Jamie at Home X24 Dumpbin (Hardcover)
I know that this sounds tacky, but this book has changed my life!
Jamie brings you into a world with in his gardens and kitchens that seem to magically blend into each other. He combines growing and cooking with a zen like force and connects the spirits of each into one flowing energy. Fantastic. It is a beautiful book and really fun to read. Thank you Jamie!

Please stop with the dead animals!, March 9, 2008
This review is from: Jamie at Home X24 Dumpbin (Hardcover)
I am a huge fan of Jamie Oliver but now in two books (Jamie in Italy and Jamie at Home) he has included full color photos of bloodied and dead animals! It's bad enough that he admits to enjoying killing wild birds (using that great rationalization - oh, its best for the animals to cull their numbers and helps the environment)and hunting rabbits but holy mother of God please do not put your hunter's manifesto complete with a photo of a sweet little dead bunny rabbit in my freaking cookbook!
He did the same thing in his Italian cookbook - showing gruesome, bloody, slaughter pictures because we should all know where our food comes from. Ok - fine - but please not when I am looking for a recipes to make tonight's supper! I ended up ripping those pages out of the cookbook and will do the same with these in Jamie at Home (which I spent alot to get since it is currently not published here in the US).
I'm really upset though about the turn Jamie has taken. I guess he thinks this is being edgy or something, or so very British - all out there hunting with the Queen and all. I am just disgusted and will call a halt on his cookbooks until he can get control of his need to shock his readers with photos of dead bunnies.
Oh there is a photo of a sweet little lamb (alive though) in the lamb chapter. I can tell you that it made me 100 percent certain I will NEVER eat lamb.
These books could turn you vegan in a heartbeat.
