5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best (if not THE BEST) live bands EVAH!
JMQ are an absolutely wicked live band. However, a couple of songs into this DVD, I just felt like something was missing. As it progressed, it picked the funk up! Plus there was a song on there that I'd never heard before called "Shoot The Moon." I have all of their albums and I was like, okay, where'd this one come from? 2.0 out of 5 stars Jamiroquai at Their Most Mediocre
Jamiroquai can get a little long in the tooth when it comes to experimental jams on stage and this performance is no exception. Combine that with a bad mix of the songs - way too much reverb, improperly-compressed instruments, and muddy mid-range - you are left feeling unsatisfied at the end of almost every song. Anywho, if you haven't heard it yet, it's a great song. All of you partial to the "old" JMQ sound will especially Love it. All I can say is that if you ever have an opportunity to see JMQ live, DO IT (thank me later)! If you're impatient and can't wait for their next visit (like me) or you're just a fan of their music and/or performances (like me), treat yourself to this DVD and enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars More live DVD's, please!!!, November 20, 2007
This performance was terrific. However, there are two reasons that I shorted it one star:

1. It doesn't come close to Jam's Live in Verona DVD in terms of crowd and camera involvement. The energy is a little subdued.
2. The audio just wasn't finished right. It's like the engineer forgot to tweak the last 10%. The overall audio quality is bright, so surround sound might seem a little overbearing. Stereo sounds good, but it's still missing a cleaner "live" sound (this may have to do with indoor vs. outdoor acoustics).
NOTE: I work at a high-end audio store, so I've been playing this using an $80,000 surround sound system; therefore, please don't let my critique steer you away from buying this disc by any means.

Other than those bits, the overall performance is stellar! Jamiroquai is an incredible live band. They do a great job at taking their studio songs and vamping them up with [acid] jazz, funk, fusion, and jam sessions in between. "Shoot The Moon" is a GREAT surprise!!! That song is filled with great riffs and a groovey chorus.

Buy this disc. But buy it only if you can't find Jamiroquai's Live in Verona (make sure it's REGION ZERO - plays in all DVD players) first. Either purchase will be thoroughly enjoyed. Cheers!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest DVD concert experiences!!, May 10, 2008
By
Ryan B (Moscow, ID USA) - See all my reviews
I've been getting into Jamiroquai over the last few years, and was excited to finally pick up this concert DVD. Within the first few songs I knew this was going to be a fantastic concert experience. Most of the classics, new and old, are here. It also includes the catchy unreleased "Shoot The Moon", which if you're like me, you'll be singing to yourself for many days after. This performance also includes the greatest version of "Cosmic Girl" I have ever heard. It's so good in fact, that I'm bummed to not have an audio version of it on a CD release. "Traveling Without Moving" is another very memorable song on this DVD... especially for those of you like me who appreciate amazing bass work.

Overall, this performance has it all! Fantastic musicianship (killer bass, amazing keyboard work and busy percussion), Jay's spot-on vocals, great songs, colorful lights, and a great chilled-out atmosphere. Even the band's moments of spontaneity and humor in between songs are refreshing and entertaining. It has already placed itself among my very favorite concert DVDs.

If you're a Jamiroquai fan already, you'll absolutely love this DVD!! It's a must have for your collection! If you're not a fan or aren't familiar with Jamiroquai yet... watch this and you WILL be!

Jamiroquai CAN and DO sound good and play great - this rating is not their fault mostly. As far as visually, the direction is decent but the camera switching is sloppy. The HD signal is full of sharpening from post and looks quite low-end.

I love Jamiroquai in general - I feel bad for them that the production and post-production teams were so sub-par on this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Music lovers please, May 4, 2010

This review is from: Jamiroquai: Live at Montreux 2003 [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Now I was never really a fan of Jamiroquai from listening to their singles. Didn't dislike them but....ah well just a bit less than special, you know what I mean. Then there's that JK geezer, I mean come on, Ferraris, choppers and laddishness! I ordered the BluRay 'cos I'm an open minded sort of chap and, after all, they were at Montreux. Well well well, what a pleasant surprise. Imaginative, expressive, happy, dynamic, skillful music beautifully executed and produced. The disc is worth it for the girly chorus alone! Sure you have to get past JK prancing around like a nonce in his pseudo Sitting Bull hat, but just focus on his delivery - masterful. All in all a very fine performance from a bunch of gifted musicians. One for any music lovers' collection

5.0 out of 5 stars Unite, May 28, 2011

The albums are always meticulously crafted with so much attention to detail. But their true strength and staying power comes to life in the live performances. I bought the DVD when I was under pressure and had my back against the wall. It reminded me that there is more to life that what was happening in front of my eyes. There is a bigger world out there, beyond our perceived differences. The music has a unifying effect, reminding us of our common humanity and of what counts in this world. When you get caught up in something petty, watch this DVD. It would pull me out, and remind me of what matters. Power of song and voice, live - lifts you from the mundane, so you can do your job better when you have to go back in.

4.0 out of 5 stars I would buy this again..., July 25, 2010

I was excited to see that there was a Blu-Ray version of this Jamiroquai concert. Other reviews had mentioned sound quality and I was almost deterred by their ratings, however I found the sound quality to be quite good for a concert. I think they were expecting the sound quality to be that of a normal produced audio recording. I am extremely pleased by my purchase and I'm glad to have this concert in my music library. It makes me hope that Jamiroquai will do more live performances, and if I'm not able to attend, they will document the footage with the same clarity as this concert. I would recommend this disc to anyone.
