From the Manufacturer

Jamo S 426

Jamo S 426 HCS 3 Home Theater System

Jamo’s long-standing reputation for great value for money in high-performance, highly affordable loudspeaker systems is well-deserved and confirmed once again by the Jamo S 426 HCS 3 surround system. The Jamo secret is simple: thanks to a carefully coordinated and balanced engineering effort, the Jamo S 426 HCS 3 loudspeaker system delivers room-friendly good looks and sound quality that is extremely rare at the modest asking price.

The S 426 floorstanding speakers feature dual 5 ½” bass/midrange drive units in a reflex-optimized enclosure and a low resonance 1” tweeter mounted in a Jamo Waveguide. The result is a punchy, yet refined, and detailed sound that will make your movies and music more enjoyable.

In order to generate a believable three dimensional soundscape to enhance both movies and music, the S 420 CEN center channel and S 420 SUR surround employ the exact same Waveguide mounted tweeter as the S 426 and a 3 ½” version of the S 426 bass/mid unit to achieve consistent, seamless sound from every direction.

Jamo S 426

To complete the Jamo S 426 HCS 3 system, you can choose a subwoofer from Jamo’s broad range to match your room size, budget and personal preferences. The S 420 SUR and horizontal S 420 CEN include wall brackets for flexible placement and effortless integration with any room.

These speakers are manufactured by Klipsch. A simple google search will reveal this. You should expect Klipsch quality behind them as they are a very reputable brand name. Additionally, these speakers ARE 6OHM and as such you WILL have to setup your receiver for the 6OHM speakers. This isn't a big deal depending on your receiver, but it does explain why some people are so ignorantly unhappy with them. Receivers are almost always set to default at 8OHMs for speakers. You need to look in your manual on how to set your receiver for 6OHMs, at 8OHMs these speakers are not getting the appropriate amount of power they need. These are in fact good quality speakers especially for the money. I love the sound.

Speakers have arrived and wow they are heavy. The picture makes them look grey, but they are actually near black with a brownish grain to them. I think they look way better than the picture makes them look. If you have doubts about how the quality seems, don't. Speakers seem really well made (did I mention heavy again), the finish is perfect, and the sound is quite good.

Audio from these speakers seems very clear to me. I previously had a set of onkyo speakers and these are by far superior to those. I have a friend who has a set of polk audio towers as well as mirage surrounds with a $250 klipsch center channel (so around $600 total). I can't say I can hear any difference between his setup and mine other than the fact that I need a sub. You hear all the pitches you want to hear crisply and this is before I have even used my yamaha's speaker configure utility. I recommend making sure you have a subwoofer with these though.

Do not let the 1 star reviews bother you.

Jamo and Energy are owned by Klipsch USA. The speakers are made in China on a Klipsch design. This is a budget system, and a really low price for a set that includes floorstanding speakers. So, one does not expect more than a budget system.
The Sound: they don't handle bass all that well, of course, a subwoofer would be an absolute necessity. They do however sound crisp in the mids and highs. Dialogue is a bit tinny, but so it would be with just about any small center channel.
Features: really well packaged. Has banana plug connections which is nice for the price. (check Monoprice.com for plugs).
Synopsis, decent sound for a budget system. Let's be honest, you aren't going to buy these if you are an audiophile, or even a part-time enthusiast, but for the masses, it's really a good deal. If you are looking at these there is only one reason, to find a cheap system that has floorstanding speakers. At the price, you will not go wrong. They are Perfect for the casual movie watcher.
Downs: The speakers are really inefficient, so they need quite a bit of power to get them performing. Some speakers you'll never turn more than 3/4 the way up, these you will. They will get loud, just not "too loud". Best in a room of less than 200sqft. The bass is underwhelming.
Ups: banana plug connections, good looking, wall mountable center and surrounds, removable grills, floorstanding speakers have feet. crisp sound in the midrange and highs, back of the van pricing.

I've had these speakers since February 2011. I purchased them as a package with an Onkyo TX-NR708 from another vendor, but I can tell you that if you pair these with a quality subwoofer, use quality 12-16 gauge speaker wire and interconnects, I can't imagine anyone being unhappy with the results. On the other hand, if you aren't using quality components and don't configure your receiver correctly, then I can see how you might not be impressed. These absolutely need a subwoofer though. I am running a HSU Research VTF-2 MK3 subwoofer, and Jamo A 340's for rear satellites so I have 7.1. You have to be careful when adding other speakers with this set because they have a nominal impedance of 6 ohms vs. the majority of home theater speakers which are 8 ohms. Also, make sure your amp/receiver can support driving 6 ohm speakers as not all do.

The bottom line is, if you are looking to build a nice theater system, you will not be disappointed with these as long as your equipment is configured properly. I was really surprised to see people trashing these speakers. I would recommend these to anyone as long as they have a basic understanding of how these components work.

Bought as an inexpensive multi-channel system in my basement to use for football games, karaoke, WII, PS3 and whatever else we could use on it. Its spectacular for the $. Their isnt a small home theater in a box system that can touch it for output. We were tired of the small satellite speakers in this price range. For the budget minded this is a steal.

This is a great general speaker system. I got it on sale for $129. At that price, its hard to find a better deal. All the people on here that gave it a low rating are sound snobs that should have spent the money for a better system. Their fault. I think it sounds great.

The speakers are actually a darker color, unlike the pics. They look like a very dark brown, almost black. Google them for personal pics. The speakers are 6ohms, so you will need a receiver that you can set to 6omhs, as most are set to 8ohms by default. You will also need a subwoofer to complete the 5.1 speaker setup. I got the Polk Audio PSW10 10-Inch subwoofer on sale for for $79 and a Yamaha RX-V371BL 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver for $169, so my entire setup was extremely low price.

This setup is for someone who isnt a sound/speaker snob and wants something that looks great and is perfect for everyday general use. Im happy with my purchase. I hope this helps.
