This collection of 4 beloved stories by Jan Brett is value for money and would make a perfect Christmas/holiday gift. The stories in this treasury include "Gingerbread Baby" which is set in Switzerland, "The Mitten" which is based in the Ukraine,"The Hat" which is set in Denmark, and finally, "The Three Snow Bears" based in the Arctic. The illustrations are vivid, and beautifully rendered. These stories are perfect for children ages 4-8, and even older readers. There's a sense of timeless appeal about these stories, and they are also great for reading aloud. A wonderful collection!
I am very particular about the books I buy for my children. This is my first time purchasing Jan Brett's books. Got it for my toddler twins. They love it! I love it! It is very well written and the illustrations are very detailed and beautiful. The stories are really very entertaining. This treasury is indeed worth every cent! I look forward to purchasing more books by Jan Brett.
I am buying Jan Brett books for every gift giving occasion for my grand niece who has just turned 2. A superb illustrator, Brett doesn't disappoint with this collection. As a Christmas gift for a child experiencing winter weather for several months each year the choice was perfect.
You can't ever go wrong with Jan Brett. My kids love all her stories so I was excited to find all their favorites in one place. It is really a great deal when you think how much it would cost to buy each book seperately.
I have a whole collection of Jan Brett books and buy them regularly for gifts. Her illustrations are amazingly realistic and the way she forms a story withiin a story using the graphics is just wonderful. I've been reading stories from Jan Brett books to my grandchildren for more than 16 years and will continue to share her books with others. I hope Jan Brett continues to share new books with us.
These books are a wonderful introduction, not only to some old classics such as the "Gingerbread Man," but also to Scandinavian culture. The charming story, "The Mitten," is a good vehicle for introducing children to the idea of special knitted heirlooms. Who knows? Perhaps a "seed" of interest in continuing folk traditions might be planted.
Great collection of Jan Brett stories, which kids from 3-10 love. Beautiful illustrations, which kids will notice have a "secret" preview on each page, of the upcoming page. Very well made. As a school librarian, I have read Jan Brett's books to kids for years. Great quality and content, and the kids love them.
