Book Description

December 11, 2009
At the centre of a magical realm, in a city called Zoogly, a petrified dragon makes a wish at the Fire-Tree for someone to come and help with a three-headed school bully. Little does he know that after two adventures with the girl who was sent to save him, he would fall head over tail for her. Eventually, magic pearls allow him to transform into a human and he becomes the gorgeous Derek Pendragon - but will his feelings be returned? On earth, ten year old Jan Otters suffers at the hands of her own tormenting school bullies but has never been brave enough to do anything about it. One day they push Jan into the janitor's closet, unaware that this will send her hurtling into a mysterious new world! By befriending the dragon, a bookworm and a unicorn, Jan's adventure helps her face her own demons and prove to everyone that bullies, even those with three heads, can be STOPPED! Triumphant, Jan returns home, convinced it has all been a dream. However, months later she receives a note from the dragon asking her to come back and help again; his parents' eggs have been stolen, and the unicorn is missing! But sadly, Jan has her own problem: losing her beloved Granma. She needs her fantasy world and her dragon friend to help her cope with the loss; the note is a lifeline back to a world that can help turn her nightmare into a manageable reality. Later, Jan is now attending the Academy and is desperate for the school heart-throb to notice her. However, a cruel prank sends Jan back to her dragon. This time mermaids and a budding romance await her. These life-changing adventures of self-discovery make for the most exhilarating and enchanting times that any young girl will love.

About the Author

The author of the Jan Otters' Closet adventures is mother of three, Kelly Forsyth-Gibson. Scottish born and living in the city of Aberdeen, Kelly sought inspiration from her daughter Ashleigh to get ideas to write a book when Ashleigh couldn't find anything suitable in her local book stores. It seemed that all the adventure stories were written with boys in mind while Ashleigh wanted a story with the gritty exhilaration of danger and excitement that only boy's books seem to have; she also wanted the usual girly stuff in it too. The two brought their imagination together to develop some of the most exciting stories for children to be released in the United Kingdom. Kelly is the inventor of a baby safety product that sells world-wide and while developing her own personal dream over ten years decided that hard work, although very rewarding, could never take the place of the quality time she shared with her daughter. Kelly hopes that this book will encourage her daughter to follow in her footsteps and break through all boundaries of the impossible, hoping to instil in Ashleigh the tenacity to start a project and make it the best she can. Three years of hard work has resulted in something that she is proud to present to the world, leaving her mark for her children and grandchildren to read and enjoy, and proving that day dreams come and go but that great imagination deserves to be immortalized in print. The subjects addressed in the Jan Otters' Closet adventures are lessons for us all and are met with fun and the sensitivity that these life-changing dramas deserve. Kelly and Ashleigh say, "Writing together has been one of the best things to ever happen to us - and it's only the beginning! "

I was curious about the author of this book and after reading about her, found out she also invented the Thudguard baby safety hat. What a talented lady! Where does she find the time because I only just found the time to go online and buy the book for my niece's birthday!Great value for money and the humour was for both adult and child. Beautiful book with fantastic illustrations.
